Ok, lets break this down;

On the Deathstar, the plan was to LET THEM GET AWAY, because they had put a tracking device on the MF, so that it would lead them to the REAL Rebel base after Lea tricked them into blowing up Dantoine.

Well, you can't kill off the main character, but yeah. In other cannon (books and such) stormtroopers are described hitting targets the size of a human head from 100yards, with no scope.

That's pretty good shooting, even considering they are using lasers.

Its also stated in the movie, right after the MF leaves that, "Is the tracking device on board? Good. They'll lead us straight to the hidden rebel base."

One could also argue that before the Galactic Civil War (original trilogy), the clonetroopers were faced with hordes of robots, so the only war that force fought was a total spray and prey engagement, the whole way through.

The clones were disbanded after the clone wars after some of the originals (like, half) betrayed the empire. From then on I believe there where on 2 Imperial companies that were full clones (the 501st and royal guard I think). The rest are just people they recruited. I am sure they are still well trained but they weren't the clones that fought in the war.
#47 to #20 - tomthehippie (05/05/2013) [-]
Actually, the other Legions (not companies) were composed of clones from multiple people, not just Jango Fet clones like the originals. Some enlisties were accepted, but most of that was for the Navy.

I though the cloning died with the Kamino was blown straight to hell. I suppose the empire could have made for facilities. Either way I know that the 501st and, I think, the royal guard are the only "legions" (thanks for the correction) were the clones are of one person, the rest are mixed of various people. I am also fairly positive that most the higher officers are not clones of anyone.
#49 to #48 - tomthehippie (05/06/2013) [-]
Some of the officers are, although most Flag officers are not.

And the Kaminoans still are the cloners, just with a couple legions sitting around watching them.
#50 to #49 - telamatoes (05/06/2013) [-]
I thought they "Deathstar"ed Kamino after the clone rebellion.
#51 to #50 - tomthehippie (05/06/2013) [-]
Not in the movies or games... maybe in one of the books, but from what I know, they just left a **** ton of soldiers to watch the cloners.

dantoine was never blown up, Alderann was. dantoine was just searched and the remains of an abandoned rebel base was found

Wow, my bad. I forgot that was the first place Lea named, whoops.

Alright schools in bitches. The reason there is a big disparity between the clone troopers and the storm troopers is due to the quality of the cloning procedure they were created from. The original clones were meant to kill Jedi they were straight from that badass mutha ***** Jango Fett. The next batch of clones were either diluted Jango or someone else enitirely. They are economy models compared to the expensive **** at the beginning. The Stormtroopers were also grown too fast and flashed trained and with the corners cut sucked big hairy Wookie balls.

TL;DR
Clone Commando: Badass Jedi killing, droid scrapping pimps
Stormtroopers: Clones commandos little brother with scoliosis

There's actually a prevailing theory as to why they always missed:

Obi-wan stated that the Stormtroopers shot with deadly accuracy, but for some reason couldn't hit the humans. This is a thing that happens in real life, and it basically boils down to the fact that humans have a hard time shooting things with human faces. This is why the Stormtroopers couldn't shoot the heroes, but the heroes didn't really have much of a problem shooting the robotic-looking troopers.

inb4 you must be lots of fun at parties

It's the system trying to READ the image if it has text...

As you can see, it almost never works.

I would imagine that the empire had better pay and benefits. The stormtroopers were just trying to provide for their family and get health insurance for their sick 3 year old son with space leukemia. Every Time the rebels killed one they were starving a family and forcing a woman to prostitute herself to provide for her kids.

Or.. y'know.. George Lucas just didn't want the heroes to get ******* killed.

They have terrible accuracy also because they are second generation clones. Clone troopers from the prequels had pure Mandalorian DNA and years of training with the Kaminoans and high ranking Mandalorians. The Republic/Empire did not like the wait and expenses with Kaminoan cloning so they approached the Alpha Cloning Company with a contract, but since the Kaminoans had the pure Mandalorian DNA they had to give the Alpha Clone Company regular troopers DNA. Mix what is essentially imbred DNA with less training and you get storm troopers.

It's actually called The Stormtrooper Effect. The more main characters in the scene, the less accurate the enemies are.

Each stormtrooper is either a clone and thus raised simply for the purpose to serve the empire and Palatine or he is a human recruit who have gone through a extreme selection of recruits both physically and about political beliefs. They would have nothing to gain from defecting.
