Fro, what I remember, on release it was bad. Fixing it later is all nice and all but I would hope putting effort into the games from Day 1. My point remains though: From previous cases of PC GTA's it really doesn't bug me or the PC community as a majority if we don't get it.

Also if I try to play WoW on my current laptop (fairly high spec MacBook Pro) it switches from the onboard graphics to the GPU and that **** is LOUD and makes it very hot.

Gaming on a laptop isn't a good idea imo, I wonder if there are any laptops with a good enough cooling system to even play games for long.
User avatar #11 - ilovemyguns ONLINE (05/04/2013) [-]
How to have an awesome pc gaming computer.

Buy large cheap dell laptop, the largest ************ you can find. A large cased cheap ass 2002 dell is cheaper than just a frame. Not even kidding.

Take ****** micro atx motherboard and intel processor out.

Next, replace the cooling fan with a quad cooling fan that fits on the back. You'll want to drill small holes in the plastic in the back. If there's free space, there's room for a hole. Look at about 40+ holes all around that ******** back. You can also do the sides depending on the laptop, but you may have to drill in something to hold it in place.

Next, put BTX motherboard where micro atx went. There's enough spare room to fit a minifridge in there, it'll hold a btx. Next put on an AMD phenom or better processor. If it doesn't overheat, it'll take a medium quality quad core.

Next, replace the power supply. That's a peice of **** , I can find something better at fry's electronics. Look around for a power supply enough to power a small desktop. It needs to fit, remember, but the newer power supplies are quite small and powerful.

Next, replace the graphics card. I don't know what the turnout in processing will be, so run a test before buying a new graphics card.

Buy new ram. Save the old ram for another project or recycling. Don't throw it away. I got my memory from crucial, but you might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere. You should be able to hold and process 16 gb of ram.

Full project cost should only be $900-$1200, and it'll run far better than any other off the market **** you'll find.
#382 to #11 - anon (05/05/2013) [-]
Or you can just build your own computer rather than buying a ****** Dell in the first place? That'll save you a lot of money, and you won't have to do any drilling.

User avatar #42 to #34 - kiratheunholy ONLINE (05/04/2013) [-]
Those are nice... but they don't explain the difference between ATI and Nvidia cards and how an ATI even if a higher model can cripple your system in extensive CUDA-using programs.

Neither does it explain that SSD's don't affect gaming performance. Some people make false-claims that they do but I haven't ever used an SSD and I'm able to run all the top games at the very least 60 FPS.

Finally it doesn't show how situational programs can affect whether AMD or Intel processors reign dominant. Most applications don't use more than 4 cores ever, making Intel reign supreme in this category. However some higher-end games can use more than 4 cores which gives AMD the upper-hand in that area.
User avatar #211 to #42 - zoidz ONLINE (05/05/2013) [-]
True, tho its just a simple 'price guide'. And I am starting to side more with AMD for having more cores with the low prices. (I use a lot of programs at once).
Intel is getting way too expensive to have something, and with their best processors they go and stop production of it (ex: 2500k) tho...gotta live with it. :| (They should extend their socket lifes to be longer tho.

Not sure if I had another guide which showed the AMD/Intel difference and recommended for X use.
User avatar #463 to #211 - kiratheunholy ONLINE (05/05/2013) [-]
It's pretty simple when it comes to processors. How it works is that Intel has higher powered caches as well as hyper-threading technology. They are on the more expensive sides, though in most programs they will run faster because most programs only use 4 cores at the tops, and 4 cores from intel is faster from 4 cores from AMD.

However if an application advertises itself being able to use 8 cores or more you'll wanna go AMD. AMD offers 8-core processors for 200$, AMD processors will last longer because in the future it's more likely for more programs to use 8 cores. 8 cores on an AMD processor are faster than 4 cores on an intel processor.
User avatar #494 to #463 - zoidz ONLINE (05/05/2013) [-]
Also you can make 8 programs run on each core for AMD as of where Intel would have the limit to 4 only. I'm currently recommending a lot an AMD build for friends since here the prices are VERY different from one another, also since the AM3+ architect is gonna have a 3rd release. I'm seriously wanting to make an AMD build just to test the things out/differences. :| Gonna rob a bank.

User avatar #63 to #60 - kiratheunholy ONLINE (05/05/2013) [-]
With an SSD you can look forward to faster disk-transfer rates. Your computer will start up faster, and files will take much less time to load. If any of those sound worth over 100$ then you should get one.

If not, then SSD's aren't your style.
#65 to #63 - frogmum (05/05/2013) [-]

Lifehacker (Short, to the point, but not so in-depth)

And the longer, more in-depth, explanatory one (Good to watch when you have time to kill)
Note: It doesn't really take as long as the previous video to build a computer. If you know what you're doing, it's fairly easy and takes about 45 minutes to an hour at the most.

You are either lengthy with your trolling or retarded.

1)cheap thermaltake, coolermaster, or antec case $50, now skip the first 1/2 of this nonsense. BTW, there's no such thing as a quad cooling fan.......

2)BTX motherboards stopped being used 8 years ago.

3)The rest is also nonsense. Check tomshardwaredotcom for their $600, $1000, and $2000 quarterly gaming pc builds. Build off of their suggestions.

Funnyjunk goes through a cycle of cancerosity, and it's at its absolute low at the moment. Things reposted straight from facebook with no amusing content at all get thumbed up, almost everything posted is a repost yet people feel justified pointing out it is a repost so people will thumb them up, and the pastime lately has apparently been mirroring tumblr.
The part where the cycle starts going up is when people suddenly look at what they're typing and go "What the **** am I posting", they pick another website like 9gag and start laying into them about everything wrong about the site, and trying to do everything in a more satirical way.
I hope FJ remembers that this isn't Facebook soon though.
