Sir, may I remind its called "United States of AMERICA" because its America. Besides other countries in the America's don't even call themselves anything derived from the word America. We can call ourselves America because America is in our name. You don't say "the Federal Republic of Germany" you say Germany.

I call the USA America all the time, but when someone insults someone for not using the proper names, I like to show them we can get technical and shove our own thumbs up our asses too.

>Implying anyone not in the Americas cares about Canada, Mexico, or South America.

Also, implying that everyone in Europe is helping each other as well.

That happened THIS FEBRUARY. Canada doesn't need help, neither does South America. We provide aid to Mexico a lot, despite our overly strict borders to them.

I'm sorry, but the last time I checked, the US was in the Americas.

When people say America they mean USA almost all the time
User avatar #363 to #360 - chuckstein (05/03/2013) [-]
That doesn't mean they're right. If everyone in the USA refers to England as Europe, England doesn't suddenly become Europe. If everyone in Europe refers to the USA as America, it doesn't become America. Your entire argument sits on a hill of ******** .
User avatar #370 to #363 - mudkipfucker ONLINE (05/03/2013) [-]
USA is short for United states of AMERICA
America is one of those words
Europe is not one of the words in England
Poor compaison

But instead of calling it America why not call it the US or USA? You insult Americans for thinking a continent is one country (By the way, I know nobody who things so) and then you say the exact same thing! It's the logic of wanting to support a local brand by not buying from Target, but the "local" brand you support is Wall Mart. You're still doing the exact same thing.

First, There are several nations with United States in their name. Second, what's wrong with Americans calling themselves Americans? You're saying it's wrong but you're not providing a solution. United States of Americans? United Statetians? What?

And what's wrong with calling the USA America?
User avatar #384 to #377 - mudkipfucker ONLINE (05/03/2013) [-]
1) Everyone I know says America, and I watch a lot of American TV shows and films and they all call it America
1.5) If I called a Salvadorian 'American', he would probably be pissed
2) there is a continent that is its own country, its called Australia (everyone I know thinks so)
3)what? I think you had a point there at the end but I don't get it
User avatar #394 to #384 - chuckstein (05/03/2013) [-]
1.) Australia is a country. Oceania is a continent. Tell your friends to google some geography.
2.) Salvador is in South America, please, one again, study geography.
3.) I can use numbers to sound smart too! Isn't it great?
User avatar #403 to #394 - mudkipfucker ONLINE (05/03/2013) [-]
1) Oceania is more of a geograpic region. Australia is a continent AND a country (they are THAT badass). Google some geography
2) El Salvador is in Central America, which is in... North America, Study Geography (either way its in the Americas so my point is valid)
3) I can use my geography knowledge to prove you wrong! Isn't it great?
