Light? A hero? Maybe from his own perspective. But he's killed and nobody should go unpunished for such an act. He thinks he's a god but he's just man driven mad from power. Even if he did kill criminals he's still murdered people... Don't get me wrong but I still love him and his psycho ass.

What makes a hero is up to each person to define though:P
in the series, many people saw him as a hero for doing something many people wanted secretly to happen. maybe "heartlessrobot" is like them?

I thumbed you up because having an opinion on which heroes you like most doesn't warrant a thumb down.

Iron Man, one. Because his superpower isn't money. He's a legitimate genius, and the Avenger suit is a direct manifestation of that. Plus he's the smartass I wish I could be.

True enough. I always liked the Dark Knight series the best, because it seems the most realistic.

The cops are after him cause he ******* kills every criminal he can. He's not some ******* depressed boyscout like most comics or shows make him, he's the ************* Dark ************* Knight. He's not here to be admired or for people to like him; he's here to strike fear in to the hearts of any piss ant piece of **** who even thinks of victimizing another person.

In that series he's a true antihero; not a dark hero, but a hero who uses the tools normally used by villains to protect those who can't protect themselves.

At the same time, though, I don't think the older versions of Batman are far off from realistic when regarding the Bat himself.

There's something about the refusal to stoop to criminal methods that always came off to me as more powerful than boyscoutish. Aside from vowing to do good despite the fact that it would never be enough, he also had a somewhat psychological imperative to do so, due to his tragic past. It went deeper than "I do it for revenge and because I can."

Granted, I've not read the Dark Knight series personally, but from what I have read, Batman always stepped that line between justice and vigilanteism, but usually never strayed far to either side. That, to me, was what made him such a relatable and empathetic character.

Definitely a good point. And I see where you are coming from.

I guess, personally, it just seemed more powerful that in the Dark Knight Batman didn't care about his own life, his own morals, his own health; he wanted to become a symbol of fear to any and all who would victimize another. He wanted to make criminals scared to break the law, and to do that, was willing to go to any lengths.

Potential spoilers, but if you haven't seen the Batman movies yet, shame on you.

Alfred raised Wayne since he was a young lad and in the movies all he wanted for him was to live a peaceful life and to settle down with someone. Then that end comes in with Alfred actually seeing his dream come true and that just gave me all type of feels. I love Alfred for being so devoted to Wayne and same goes for Wayne's devotion and respect for Alfred. He may have lost his parents, but Alfred made sure to give him enough love for the both of them!

But the Bane in Dark Knight Rises was the most pathetic attempt at incarnating Bane imaginable. The George Clooney's Bat nipples are better than Nolan's trilogy.

The joker is meant to be a creation that is like Batman only that in that the joker lost all he had. He's the batman with just one bad day added in where he lost everything that he loved. He was given that one last push that killed who ever he was.

Batman is still Bruce because he never lost everything but the joker had nothing in the past. They were both nobody till they added one more push. Batman's push made him the Batman and yet he was able to put the cape away and remain Bruce at the end of the night. But the joker's final push made him push back in every way he had been pushed. Because if the joker ever stopped pushing back he would return to that shell he was as the early full on emptiness and despair.

The joker is who he is because the alternative is to be nothing at all. And it is the world biggest joke that he is something from nothing. And nothing all the same.

I'd say Bruce had a pretty bad day himself. And lost what he considered most important to him. I never viewed The Joker and Batman as opposites, to me they were always the exact same just reacted to the pain differently. The comparison is obvious in "The Killing Joke" during The Joker's monologue. The Joker has no powers unlike many of Batman's villians just like Batman has no powers, etc, etc. To me, the Joker enjoys their game so much because he realizes they're the exact same, all stemmed from one bad day.

There's a reason why the Joker is so iconic. He is everything Batman COULD have been. He represents so many things to Batman: he represents the senseless violence that took his parents away, he represents how similar their madness is, and he is constantly the one and only force that pushes Batmans' code of non-lethality.

Also, Batman recently stated in the New 52 that the thought of Joker dying horrified him, because he would expect an even greater force of evil to take his place in Gotham. And an evil greater than the Joker is something even Batman cannot plan for.
