Happiness is when being awake is finally better than being asleep or dreaming.

Maybe someday I'll prefer waking life.

Sleeping is like being dead without the commitment

Hold on there ********* mcgee
Sleeping is in fact vastly different from death
During sleep the brain is extremely active, more so than an awake brain in some ways.

For me Sleeping is Night Terrors and Nightmares, unfortunately I have little to live for, but too much of a pussy to end it.

Sometimes I like to sleep because when I'm sleeping, I'm not bored. Also there was one period where I kept having these vividly exciting dreams that were kind of like movies, made me want to go to sleep just so I could dream more.

every night as I lay on the bed, I want to fall through the bed and out existence. Just keep falling into nothing, and be out of this world for some time...

I understand that feeling so well.
I don't even know what to do about it anymore.
I just kind of wish I could stumble out of existence without bringing pain to anyone I love. But sleeping and dreaming are the closest I get to that. Oh well.

What the hell are you talking about?

Dude I had a dream I was playing chess with living people and when the hit each other they would play a game of chess against each other and the person who lost would go out.

Pretty ******* fun.

Almost all the people I see these days who say they're depressed are just looking for attention. You may not be one of them but a whole lot of them are.

Sorry for the remark, it was uncalled for. But it's kind of annoying how many people are like that

Goddamn it FJ, stop being depressed. I know I have no right to say anything to you, being lucky in my life, yet you should aim for what you believe that is "happiness" to you, and let nothing be in your way, unless, of course, it involves anything such as murder or rape.
But seriously, you guys always sound smart in your choices, you always seem nice and worthy, and I bet many of your lives suck beyond belief, a rough past and no future to look forward to, yet your heart still beats, your brain still thinks, and yet you limit it, limit yourselves.
I know I'm probably very naive and cliche, but if you can, pursue your happiness, and if you can't, then at least know that you always have the rest of FJ, even if we're just faceless anons, at least one of us will hear your story, and even if they don't show it, they will feel compassion.

I ******* love sleep but I can't be the only person that finds this overly dramatic. We all have problems, but wallowing in it can't be healthy. Pic Semi-related....It might bring some god damn joy around here...

Dear people to whom this may concern,

wanting to sleep so much is not the problem, it's the result of avoiding your real problems. I suggest you find one person you trust and tell him/her about your problem. I, myself was on the brink of suicide, until I gathered the courage to tell my best friend I've been very depressed, without having to mention any details (loneliness was involved). Someone else can really give you a different perspective on things and in my case, that was just what I needed. It was a real eye-opener to me. And well.. I'm still here!

I hate **** like this. Not because it's kind of gay, or because it gives me feels, but I find it sad that some people follow this idea that they need to escape reality because it makes them feel sad, angry or lonely.

All of this "life's **** " stuff, is **** . Life is too grand, that you can't define it within one word. Somewhere in the world, within the time it takes you to read this comment, a baby has been born. A new human has been brought in to this world like a blank canvas, with full potential to do anything. That's beautiful.
Somewhere else in the world, a brutal war rages on and shows no sign of stopping. That's **** .

If you personally think life is poor to the point you need an escape from reality, then you shouldn't escape to the land of nod. You should escape by altering your current reality in to one that you want to live in. And if the reality is beyond your control to the extent that you can't alter it, then you should try and focus on the beauty that surrounds you in this world, rather than the nastiness.

But for ***** sake, don't sleep. This post says "when I sleep, I'm nothing", and that's correct. You have no potential to do good or bad. But why would you prefer to do nothing asleep rather than everything you want to do awake?

People who say "life isn't short, it's the longest thing you'll ever do" are wrong. Rotting in a coffin for the rest of eternity is the longest thing you'll ever do. So, you know, make the most of being awake whilst you still are. Chin up folks, if things aren't getting better, then make them better!

(Also, sorry for the rant. It's a bit long, I know.)

Truly, dreaming can also be pretty fun too. It's not nothing- but it's experiencing beauty in a different kind of way. Sort of like reading a story you wrote by instinct. So sleep isn't negative in that sense.
But I agree, and you saying what you did made me feel better for a moment. If but a moment.

'preciated it, buddy.

Oh, I certainly can't disagree with dreaming.
Dreaming's great, in dreams you can become a pirate, a time traveler, a hero or a villain. I just didn't consider that when the image said "sleep" cause they talked about becoming "nothing" when they went to sleep. As if it was just a pleasure to be valued at nothing because life outside of that was so poor!

Personally, I don't think sleeping is negative at all, I love it. In fact, lying in bed at night once all my work for the day is done could be my favourite time of the day. I just felt the original motive rather than the idea behind this post was a bit glum.

Very pleased to hear that I made you feel better. If this comment doesn't go on to make others feel better, than it has succeeded at least once. I'm going to get myself some sleep now. Good night, stranger.
User avatar #88 to #48 - zurk (05/03/2013) [-]
I see your point, and am glad you are still partial to dreaming. I understand exactly what you meant when you said what you said.

And of course I won't remember this 20 years from now, but the few moments were nice. Of course, it's the moments that we sometimes truly live for. Thanks again.

My only relief is to get high.
When I'm high,
I'm not sad,
I'm not angry,
I'm not lonely;

I'm high

if you learn lucid dreaming, and you master it.....

you can dream about whatever you want!
you can also do whatever you want in that certain dream

sleep is fun
