Looks like a rasta colored lanyard. Little faggot kids have rasta colored things all the time. Even though they don't smoke weed... Although they want you to think they do and think they are cool.

Only two reasons to have a rastafar anything.
You're Jamaican or you're black and smoke weed erryday

Can you explain to me why Weed makes someone cool? I always viewed it as a crutch to help escape reality, similar to how I smoke Cigars to feel closer to my father it always seemed a weakness, something to be hidden not touted on facebook as the end all of coolness, I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out why people view lighting a plant on fire as a sign of untold awesomeness, Im not against marijuana usage if you want to go ahead man I fully understand the need to lose yourself, but is it because its Illegal in such a minor way that doing so makes you seem like your a bad boy? Does it give you the power to shoot lightning out your hands and Im the only one who hasnt seen the Emperor Palpatine of Weed? Is it just a society wide desire to tell authority to **** off while avoiding any truly socially or financially damaging behavior or is it the hyping up of ones own personal flaws in order to make the users seem stronger for doing it rather than acknowledging what it truly is?... I play a lot of videogames and watch youtube videos to escape the real world Ive never viewed those forms of escapism as cool, simply a way out, so why has Weed gotten a reputation as something cool?
User avatar #42 to #36 - sirbutterballs (05/01/2013) [-]
I don't really think weed is "cool" it's just a thing people smoke. I myself do not partake, I'm indifferent towards it.
#49 to #42 - winglit (05/01/2013) [-]
and again I must say Im fine with its usage but Ive noticed that the younger generations seem to believe its use makes them cool? I truly am curious as to why this belief has come about, when its very usage would normally be a form of escape from a deeper underlying issue perhaps with family, friends or lack there of (Im a lonely person I understand escapism) but weve seen a turn recently where people have begun to consider its use as cool I really would like to hear some Opinions on this from both sides because if we can work out where the initial desire to smoke weed comes from, "peer pressure" would indicate a deeper underlying problem of loneliness "to make you happy" could mean you are fighting with depression and seek for a way out, or if the most common reason really is "because its cool" which I feel may represent a more serious issue with parental guidance and the desire to rebel against any kind of authority, we may be able to really help some people who dont believe they need help, Im going to go talk to my friends whove gone to drugs and ask them when they first began to smoke and what were the main reasons they did so... maybe some of them just needed someone to actually care about them?
User avatar #94 to #49 - sirbutterballs (05/02/2013) [-]
Over-exaggeration my friend. With all the rappers talking about weed, booze, and big booty bitches it's easy for the impressionable to think that such things are cool. Personally I find that this makes them even more reckless and dim-witted than they already are.
#96 to #94 - winglit (05/02/2013) [-]
This seems to be the most common response when asking this question, if you'll indulge me a little further what way would you suggest dealing with the recent Trend if at all? How would you if you are or plan to become a parent raise your children in a way which would allow them to make informed decisions on the subject of drug use and escapism in general? I know we've all seen those "talk to your kids" commercials but lets be honest... that really wont stop a kid falling to peer pressure if they are that afraid of being left out, and its typical for teenagers to not want to speak or listen to their parents all that much
User avatar #97 to #96 - sirbutterballs (05/02/2013) [-]
I'll take the old school approach. If you do drugs I'll kick your ass, kick you out, sell all your stuff, and use all the money to buy something nice for myself. The problem with parents now is that they're being too soft on their kids. They blame themselves for the actions of their children instead of teaching them a lesson on why you don't do that **** . They're your child and all, but if they're not gonna listen to reason and simply talk of their problems, kick it out of 'em. It seems to be violent and unreasonable but hell, talking doesn't seem to work.
#98 to #97 - winglit (05/02/2013) [-]
so you subscribe to the tried and true "Spare the rod spoil the child" method? Understandable and logical, being more harsh will often keep a child from moving towards negative influences for fear of reprimand from their parents... alright thank you your opinion has been cataloged, I appreciate your time and patience sir ^_^
User avatar #99 to #98 - sirbutterballs (05/02/2013) [-]
No problem, as a side note I wouldn't be harsh all the time just when they deserve it.
User avatar #83 to #49 - drunkasaurus (05/02/2013) [-]
Dude I think you're way overthinking it. Weed is just fun. It makes whatever you're doing more interesting and funny. Sometimes I'll be bored and call up my stoner friends to take a few hits, just cus I have nothing to do and wanna feel good. Only reason I don't smoke it everyday is because it makes me not wanna do anything. But I have a good life, I'm perfectly happy, I have good friends and people that care about me....

Now, about the poeple that brag about smoking weed, that's just idiots that think anything you're not supposed to do is cool. It's like how people smoke cigarettes and act all edgy.
#88 to #83 - winglit (05/02/2013) [-]
While true weed can just be for fun, those that use to excess like your "stoner friends" those are the ones im curious about, using once in a while is no different than reading a book or watching the latest episode of Family Guy to kill a half hour, its the more extreme cases I want to look at in depth as well as those who show off the usage of such products with such fervor, It may be true Im over thinking the more recent trend towards drugs being viewed as "cool" and It may be just a bunch of stupid kids, but my fathers generation of stupid kids were hardly habitual drug users and sexual deviants, I want to discus in depth the origin of this recent trend, and whether it stems from the issues above being Idolized as a part of the Phenomenon Group Think (Irving Janis look at his notes if you want to understand Group Think) and as well Im curious as to whether this will become more and more common as things continue or if we will see a snap back to form in the years following this Generation... TL;DR where does the recent Trend of "drugs = cool" Come from?
User avatar #90 to #88 - drunkasaurus (05/02/2013) [-]
Ah. I see what you're saying. I would agree that my stoner friends are likely using drugs because they're unstisfied with their home life and school, but it's hard to know for sure which came first. For instance, I know if I kept smoking weed I wouldn't do anything and my grades would drop, which would probably make me start smoking even more weed so I wouldn't be upset about my failing grades. I'm not sure if that's what happened to my friends or if they just weren't good at school to begin with and are using weed as a coping mechanism. Either way, they're happy now, so I'm happy for them. Thinking of drugs as cool is a pretty recent phenomenon, it used to be extremely taboo. I think a lot of it has to do with the way the media portrays drug use these days as a glamorous and fun activity that stylish/cool people do. The media has a massive impact on society, much more than people realize. They promoted gay marriage by depicting more gay couples on films and tv (which I agree with, but I'm just saying)
#93 to #90 - winglit (05/02/2013) [-]
So you feel that the recent development is due more to the way drugs have been embraced by the Entertainment industry? Interesting I actually hadnt thought in such a broad manor I was trying to focus on the individual, to the entirety of the "stoner" population if you will but your right, they definitely have had an impact on the way its viewed as a whole its just an interesting development to me and Im glad to hear your opinion on the matter

Shutup you penis, I came to this website to look at pictures and laugh, not to read paragraphs about how weed is bad, Let people do what they want and do want you want you self-righteous arsehole
#53 to #51 - winglit (05/01/2013) [-]
Please reread my post I didnt say that weed was bad in any way shape or form, its as much a tool for escape as videogames, TV, Reading a book, drinking a beer... and In no way do I disagree with peoples desire to smoke it, I simply encourage them to ask why they do so, and to see if maybe theres a more serious issue they may want to address which may make them happier without the use of escape tools such as those I listed above, maybe if you took it because you wanted to fight authority you should try speaking with the prominent father figure in your life, you may have unresolved issues with him or some other form of authority that has caused you to search for a way to lash out at them, and it might make you feel better to speak with said person rather than to continue indulging in your escape, though if you choose to continue using Weed all power to you I can more than understand your position and wish you the best of luck in achieving all of your goals, it is in no way "bad" I dont look at it in such a black and white manor.
