Although I can sometimes make lightning-fast real-life decisions, it has little if anything to do with what games I play, and how often I play them. Someone who plays a lot of sports and has never touched a video game in their life may also be able to make fast real-life decisions.
As previously stated, the types of games one plays can have different effects on one's decision speeds. For instance, if one were to play an FPS, as opposed to an RPG, their decision speed may be increased. Similarly, if one were to play a no-save game, like Super Mario Bros. 1, as opposed to a save game, such as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, their decision speed may be decreased. And yet again, if one plays a Fable-like game, where each action and choice affects the overall outcome, the decision speed may be faster or slower.
However, there is generally very little that carries over from a video game into the real world. Thus, the in-game decision speed will likely not affect the real-world one.

I play video games every day and I spend 5 minutes at the drive-through deciding whether I want Mcnuggets or Fish Fillet.

Studies have shown that pro gamers have the same reaction time as figtherpilots - but bodies like chain smokers

I make decisions fast, the wrong ones.

whether those real-life decisions are good decisions or not is still to be researched.

The type of games that you play can have different effects on your decision speeds. Say you play RPGs that you have to make big choices that effect the entirety of the game, then your decision making speeds may be slower. However, if you play a lot of first person shooters, then your decision speed may be faster, yet less appropriate for the circumstance. And a final note is that most people are effected differently than others in such scenarios.

Actualy, I think games are the reason I'm so bad at making decisions, because they have shown me all the future ramifications of the actions I'm about to partake in.

Life needs a Quick Save feature.

Why is making decisions in real life faster a good thing?

honestly it's person dependent if your reaction speed is crap that's just a personal trait. certain things work for certain people, so if this doesn't work for you that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't work for anyone.

I have quick reflexes, I just can't make decisions quickly

Maybe you're just a individual case that differs..
It doesn't mean every gamer will be fast, just the majority of them are probably faster at decision than non gamers...

being born in 1990 in a mid-low income home I have grown up on video games and have GREAT hand eye coordination.
My fiance was born in 91 BUT barely played video games and still rarely ever does.
SO guess it was a good thing I was driving when some dumb **** decided to text on the freeway, switch lanes without looking, and almost pushed me into the center divide, just braked quick, came close and got in right behind her...(did I mention DUMB **** ) but I digress, anyways Brittany didn't reacts till seconds past it being to late, and it also took her a good 3 minutes to recover from the sudden event...I kept it together like a boss. THANK YOU VIDEO GAMES

TL;DR I play video games, great reflexes, avoided crash, fiance would have got us killed, slow reflexes (rarely plays video games). :P
