But the French her to the U.S. and they renamed her Lady Liberty, put her on an island to give people hope but in the end they only used her as a booty call. Good ole' Uncle Sam raped and abused her and left her to die, now the American people want to know why she doesn't love us anymore.

It is true, ask any American where the Statue of Liberty came from and I am sure most would say here, I'm sure some might even say she had always been there and that is why this country is so great.
(Oh, God, I hate my country sometimes)

On a sidenote, I've lterally never met anyone outside of touristhandlers that brag about how great their own country is. Is this a thing in the US (since I've never been there) or is it just one of those exagerated stereotypes?:)

You mean excessive nationalism or the Statue of Liberty? Cause no, not many Americans are this excessively patriotic. In fact, a very large portion of the public do not even trust government. And the Statue of Liberty is real, but I'm almost positive you didn't mean that.

I literally just asked 6 people (in separate occasions, as to not contaminate their answers) where the statue came from, and they all knew. You're retarded.

Then they're still unemployed, and would be factored into that percentage, unless they've retired and are out of the workforce.

If they're retired, they have every right to those "handouts".

Looks like another republican douchebag's been watching too much O'Reilly factor.

yes, but the "libetarians" of today are not as described. like the libetarian obama is voting in big government laws. like how much he as used executive order to push through what everyone didnt want. we voted down obamacare. he pushed it through executive order. we try it in court, he wrote it as a government tax so we cant stop it. i dont want insurance until im in my 30's. honestly since i was 18 to now ive been to the doctor 4 times. in the period of 10 years, why would i have to be paying for insurance im not going to really use. so i can pay for the older generations insurance? i guess they should have worked their ass off like i have. obama isnt a liberal hes a democrat, democrats like to control your lives with big government, he says hes a "liberal" because well what is most of the younger generation? liberal. so now hes collected all those votes.

The world should work like this:
Topics and issues are brought to the attention of the people through the media.
The people bring it to the attention of the government.
The government do what is best for the people.

How the world really works:
Media focuses on whatever topic seems hip or controversial.
A lot of people bring it to the attention of the government.
Government do what they want and justify whatever they choose by saying it's for the people.

That's my view anyway.

Look at CISPA.
Who is calling the shots on that?
The people who it affects the most?
The people who have an actual understanding of it?
Nope.
The people who get informed about what happens on the internet beyond Wall Street Journal and Hotmail by soccer moms who still believe 95% of people online are pedophiles.

Marianne represents that. In France, she basically represents the country or the public.
