why cant we just all play what we like playing and stop arguing about what's the best game.
I play call of duty, the witcher, mass effect, final fantasy, battlefield, grid, assassin's creed and many other games i have a pc and a ps3 and i don't go pissing people of about what they should buy or play.
just my opinion

Japanese RPG games often never lets you customize your character. With the small exception of Dark Souls and Demons Souls.

So this would be more accurate if you made it about western RPG. Which are for most of the time the dullest games ever. They can still somewhat good but having "Fun" in them is pretty hard.

wRPG games have never in any kind of way had good hairstyles. It just isn't possible for them. They all look like crap.

But with an RPG you get months of gameplay. Plus there's no quest markers so you do your own investigating. You got syphilis from that vampire chick you banged? Well guess what, go read some books about vampires and maybe you'll cure learn how to cure yourself

FPS's used to be worth sixty dollars. Now they're all four hours long with five multiplayer DLC's.

I hate this picture because of the Japanese style text. I can't think of an RPG from Japan were you make a true character and do real role playing.

There really are elitists in every niche aren't there?
There's the obvious pretentious music elitists but even when it comes to other parts of life we still feel the need to develop a superiority complex. Here You can see a clear example of video-game elitism. But it goes further than just forms of media, yesterday in my physics class people were actually discussing how physics is the most superior science and how other lowly plebeian sciences (which people decided encompassed social sciences and biology) were far inferior. Why can't people just be happy with liking all genres? why can't we just chill the **** out and stop attacking people for liking something? It took me a while to finally get over my musical elitism but I'm glad I'm over it now because I can enjoy virtually any genre of music, much like I can enjoy virtually any genre of video game.

As long as the time isn't spent fawning over useless aesthetics, I find that the longer it takes you to create your character or party, the better of a game it turns out to be. I love complexity in a game system, especially when it adds replay value. Legend of Grimrock is a great example. A good race/class system with different skill trees for each class. You have your tank characters in the front row, and any combination of mages or ranged units in the back.

TL;DR: Games that let you choose a lot of gameplay-specific details from the get-go are awesome.

I would probably agree, although the fact that you used a Japanese game really weakens the point.

Japan's stories have all the cliches and bad plot devices that Western Media has managed to shun.
JRPGs have very poor storyline in general.
JRPGS are a genre, things like Dark Souls are produced in Japan for Western Audiences.
