At least the US in SATW comics is portrayed as a well meaning goofball than a total jerk in more other portrayals.

That's actually a very adequate representation of what happend back then. Wether or not the taxes they put on us were fair is a little hard to say now and honestly is beside the point; we felt ignored and mistreated and so we acted out, from there Britain kinda lost it.

Oh really? 10% of the allied merchant shipping(convoys and supplies) during ww2 was Norwegian. Norway stopped(stopped the supplies of heavy water from Norway) the german nuclear bomb project. Norwegian natural gas warms up major parts of the UK(directly through pipes), Scandinavia produes alot of crude oil. Scandinavia have made many major inventions, we were the first europeans to get ashore in america.

Norwegian East Coast and Norwegian Outpost. Bitch Sweden and Denmark has owned Norway longer than Norway has been independent.
#300 to #277 - anon (05/01/2013) [-]
You may be right but if Denmark wasn't stupid they would still own Norway, And Norway never adapted to Denmark, they might be owned by Denmark, but we norwegians stayed independent in our spirit.

Plus the fact that the king od Denmark said he was king over Denmark AND Norway so everyone thought Norway was still it's own country.
#290 to #277 - anon (05/01/2013) [-]
Who cares? We are the ones who have the oil and power now. You even pussied out during ww2 and cooperated with the germans. The Norwegian resistance played a major role in halting the german nuclear bomb project.

... And, we have the most known vikings and were the ones who got to America, Iceland, England etc.

btw, you are also only partially correct.
User avatar #297 to #290 - gustaviaable (05/01/2013) [-]
Pussied out? If we had joined the war and then left then we would have pussied out. And yes we only cooperated with the germans so we could keep on their good side to stop them from invading our country. When the allies had the over hand we stopped selling them iron and transporting their troops to Finland and Norway. And the Vikings where not divided in countries like today. The vikings where togheter owning Scandinavia and countries around. So you can't say that the vikings came from Norway if Norway did not excist back then.
User avatar #303 to #297 - froloff (05/01/2013) [-]
Read Snorre.
Leif Ericsson was born on iceland, whom parents came from Western Norway, Iceland and the faroese was settled by Norwegians, same with greenland. The Norwegian viking kings were also they who fought the most in England (Lindisfarne etc).

Or, as you will propably twist it, those parts of scandinavia whom belongs to Norway today.
User avatar #55 - smokedmeatlog (05/01/2013) [-]
To be fair, we have a ******** of states and capitals to remember over here along with their history's. Scandinavia isn't all that talked about over here, not to mention there is an ocean between us. I know the basic layout of Europe (except for the south east), so as long as im not traveling there in the near future, i dont think i have to worry about it. Just saying.

And I said ignorance because its to do with the picture you posted on, dont get offended, i was accurate. User avatar #66 to #60 - senorfrog (05/01/2013) [-]
Well that and also we are lied to until college. I was always into Japanese history but I didn't know about US and Japan relations before WWII while growing up. I vaguely do now, but that is also a bitch about America, we have to pay to get a bigger picture....or get bored one day and google it.
#67 to #66 - SrslyWtf (05/01/2013) [-]
Yeah I guess thats true, I always find it weird you have to pay for higher education... But its because after WWII our countries were in ruins so we went down the path of socialism, while yours remained built, you continued with capitalism as there was no devastation for people to need help
User avatar #69 to #67 - senorfrog (05/01/2013) [-]
Hell I was also taught that the founding fathers were practically Gods among men, in college they were like "Hell no ***** , George grew hemp and had slaves, sluts, and was a british soldier (I forgot his rank in the King's army) and Franklin was king pimp." Also higher education is getting more expensive (I believe it is a scam from rich people, but what the hell isn't)

most Americans dont know European countries all that well but at the same time most European countries dont know the American states that well.
and before you say bla bla bla the states are part of America and there for not as important as countries
in terms of size they are fairly similar and what with the EU being a thing the European countries have given up quite a bit of their sovereignty so they are not completely unlike the American states

Wait, i've just noticed that you said 'you insulted us in you're first comment claimed to be superior in you're seccond', you've gotten way to aggressive over some logical points I made, and tried to attack me because i'm better educated than half your country..

Second thought, I do claim superiority over you, I also claim to be more intelligent.
#127 to #123 - Gewdaism (05/01/2013) [-]
You didn't make any logical points, you made partisan arguments with no factual basis. And here's where you're ignorant, you're claiming to be smarter than a guy you've had a five minute debate with on the internet

#120 to #113 - SrslyWtf (05/01/2013) [-]
How did I insult you? If you don't know something about something, it is ignorance, I don't know much about Africa, guess what? Thats my ignorance! And I never claimed superiority, you said that most Europeans dont know anything about America, so I replied that I actually knew a lot about America. I''ve learned about your presidents, your foreign policy, your independence, civil rights movement, cold war and vietnam. How would you of liked me to of responded?
#125 to #120 - Gewdaism (05/01/2013) [-]
you bitched about us being ignorant and not knowing European after you read one comment by one person and then bragged that you knew American geography well. #126 to #125 - SrslyWtf (05/01/2013) [-]
Did I ever say all you Americans? No. I said 'you'. I never generalized him to the rest of the population. However right now you're proving this stereotype.
#132 to #126 - Gewdaism (05/01/2013) [-]
You're claiming to smarter than Americans because you know basic American history and geography, you're proving the stereotype of European egotism

You forgot to type "be" sorry continue.
User avatar #319 to #111 - smokedmeatlog (05/01/2013) [-]
Well everyone always seems to attack America so we have to take the defensive. If every time your country's name was mentioned, how would you feel if foreigners responded "you're stupid" or "you're all obese" without them actually knowing our way of life? "Oh I see you guys in the news all the time" is a ******** response because its the media. Nuff said. This just shows we are proud of our country and are willing to defend it. What high and mighty country do you live in thats so great?
#62 to #56 - spambassador (05/01/2013) [-]
I really don't blame them for their ignorance. Its hard not to think youre the best country youll ever know, because youre the only country you get a chance to know. canada and mexico are the only ones who are close, and they dont really have that whole "we gotta share a landmass with a lot of other countries" blues. America is the spoiled only child of the world, who's quickly learning he wont make friends by beating up the other kids on the playground or crying when it doesnt get its way.
#135 to #62 - anon (05/01/2013) [-]
Lets go over a few things, first the word "ignorance" you may not mean it offensively but over here it is rarely used without a deep sense of contempt, second useing the analogy of us being a spoiled brat who bullies other countries is not a good way to get on our good side, and finally what do you actually know about America and Americans have you ever been here? Because you can't really know or judge a people without living among them.
#138 to #135 - spambassador (05/01/2013) [-]
I used to live in america, I was born there. i spent 17 years there. I think I know a few things about the state of the nations affairs, thank you.
#163 to #138 - anon (05/01/2013) [-]
Wait so you were born in America and spent 17 years of your life there? Doesn't that make you an American? I mean that's your entire standard academic life right there, isn't calling Americans "them" a little misleading.
#147 to #138 - anon (05/01/2013) [-]
Fair enough but please just stop, we may not be the smartest country as a whole but we are far from the dumbest, and we most certainly are not the great menacing bully everyone makes out to be... we simply have the loudest most violent stupid people imaginable (and some dumb ass who keeps giving them their own shows.)

So being good at war was bad when the Nazi's were trying to rule the world? While being good at war may not be the most highly looked upon trait for a country in the world it is by far one of the most useful. Especially if the world is full of son's of bitches. Which it is.

Actually... The Scandinavian armies may be small, but they are professional (not trying to start a ********* about who's army is the best or anything). Also the Norwegian army is one of the best armies in the world when it comes to winter warfare (ONE OF, not THE best, again, no ********* plz). So if American soldiers were to invade, for example Norway, they'd have a bad time trying to cross our mountainous, forest-drowned countryside, especially during winter. Nonetheless, this discussion is useless considering Norway is also part of NATO.

I describe America as that old uncle that's always getting drunk at family get-togethers. You don't always like what he's doing, but you love him because he's still your uncle.

I don't always like what America is doing, but I still love it because this is where I was born and raised.

I'm also American, and I also love my country.

As a fellow Americunt, I understand your rage. It is misplaced in this instance, though. The whole comic as a series plays on stereotypes and ridiculous idiosyncrasies, so unlike most instances of "hurr durr 'murica" there's some equity here. All in good fun.

Because 'Merica!

But really it's not just America. It's also pretty common for superpowers to put emphasis on their own country, and it's pretty common for people to know their region well and not know further regions very well.

or you could buy a newer euro-centric map with little tabs for Alaska and Russia.

Maybe instead of getting upset when no one knows about your country, you should take solace in the fact that your country hasn't done anything horrifying enough to be remembered by. Just saying...

Ok, I always hear that Americans are stupid, but I honestly haven't come across anyone that fits this stereotype. Maybe it's because I grew up in a decent neighborhood, went to a good high school, and a good University. I feel like this stereotype always compares the uneducated Americans versus the educated Europeans and treats them as equals.

Oh well. We all have our stereotypes.

You can find plenty of these people out in the streets

I've seen that before. I can walk around the streets of Europe for hours and get the same quotes. That's the problem.

Ever seen a fight over shoes?

Stupid and uneducated people. I'm sure people fight over stupid **** in other countries too.

If I remember, a majority of our population is considered stupid. It may be based on that
