i stopped caring, no one in class cared either because i always seemed half asleep. so they assumed that i had gotten it while i was asleep, and not from the beautiful asses in front of me, in the yoga pants.

Honestly, I'm a high school teacher and I don't understand why teachers pull that crap. I just take the college teacher approach and don't say anything when students walk in late (Unless they're really late and do it all the time, then I'll talk to them after class). But really if you're late it's your own problem, you're the one getting marked tardy and missing the lecture intro, I'm not your parents.

What do you teach? I'm assuming most like the power and authority that comes with the job.

Right now I teach photography but I'm currently also going to school to get my degree in physics so I can teach science too.

The reason I love teaching high school is not because I like the authority, it's because I genuinely love sharing knowledge and explaining things to people, and I chose high school, probably because I never really stopped being a high school kid myself, even after 5+ years of college. I just don't get along with adults, they're too stupid and arrogant. At least teenagers have an excuse for not knowing stuff. They still have hope to become intelligent, free thinkers.

Funny, my photography teacher is like you. The best teachers are those who are down to earth and can relate more with the students rather than thinking they deserve respect because they are superior. I'd like to become a teacher in the field of the arts as a career also. =]

"I just don't get along with adults, they're too stupid and arrogant."

Everyone's stupid and arrogant though, and high schoolers are the angriest demographic out there, which probably doesn't go well with that. I'd also like to think that since photography students aren't typically the smartest, you're probably getting some of the more arrogant types.

It's different with high schoolers. Their brains are still being developed, they have crazy hormonal imbalances, and they're always tired and grumpy, but they still have hope. They aren't going out and running the country yet, or being assholes to their children, or being assholes to people in other countries. Yeah sometimes high school kids ARE stupid and arrogant, but my point is, there's still time to FIX them. Adults are pretty much stuck that way.

So true my high school had 5 minutes in between classes and some classes were a solid 3-4 minute walk. One can not properly use the bathroom with this scenario

Warning, rant inbound:

I wish that in the real world, teachers could actually be fired for incompetence even if they've been with an institution for a while. I've currently got a C in my Gen Chem class of 25 partly because my professor literally hasn't given a single lecture over the course of the entire semester, preferring instead to just make us fill out the workbook activity for the day. The guy literally just giggles at you like you're a dumbass for a few seconds when you ask for clarification on anything, and even his explanations tend to consist of "Oh, just go back and check the workbook, you'll find it somewhere." I and all the other students that have this guy get nothing out of this class other than what we can find online and in the workbook, whilst the other section was blessed with a fantastic professor that actually helps them learn chemistry, and he does it just because he wants to help students out (he's ******* loaded and doesn't care much about the money he brings in from teaching). I know I may just sound like some frustrated high schooler trying to find some explanation for a bad grade, but unfortunately I've found that there are just some horrible professors out there who just don't really care at all. Rant over.

True, but its very unlikely that any disciplinary action would be taken, especially at a liberal arts college like the one I attend. I've filled out a particularly negative yet reasonable review of him to be sent to the DJ 4DM1Nistration, but that's probably not going to have any sort of real impact.

It just sucks because everyone knows this guy is a **** teacher, yet students are still going to have to endure him, typically at the price of their love for chemistry. I know that, at least for me, I may now decide against a chemistry major and just stick with physics and mathematics because I don't know if I could handle multiple other courses with this guy unless I wanna risk my GPA.
