It's scary the way that it's going now, tuition and costs getting higher and higher, it's going to the times where only the very rich can get an education and the poor are illiterate...

I live in Scotland and get my University fees free. In England, they have to pay and I feel this is really bad because people who are trying to get a really good education have to pay lots of money while there are people all over Britain with a disgusting attitude and live on the dole for the rest of their lives with no intention of getting a job or contributing to society.

i live in mexico and only the smart folks get to go to college, the dumb ones dont get jack ****. You basically compete for a spot. which, in a way, is good because all the useless ***** get left out. Much better than how it was back in the USA where you're literally in the same classroom with someone with the IQ of a dog.

Kinda the same in Gibraltar, since we're such a small place we're forced to go to UK for university. So the government pays all tuition fees and give us about £5000-6000 a year for travel and accommodation fees. Pic unrelated, fanciest pic I have.

We dont have to pay it all really in England.
The government pays ALL of it unless you're very rich and you only ever pay back if you earn over £21,000. You pay very low percent of whatever is over that £21 grand mark.
(e.g. you earn £21,001, you only ever pay an extremely small percent of that £1)

I love Henry Rollins. I'm going to see Black Flag in August but he's retired and won't be there.

It'll still be awesome though.

It's really rather unfair. As part of the UK you should really get ****** over with £9,000 a year too, or if you paid it then everyone would probably have to pay less, like £7,000 each.

It is ******** isn't it, all of Northern Ireland, Wales and England paying for the education of one country, which isn't even the country with the highest GDP per capita. Makes me so mad, if it were the other way around there would be riots

Genius, let's make college free.

The retarded people will have high qualifications, resulting in a country which has no skilled tradesmen, no lower class workers, noone who actually produces anything, but all just provide services to each other and import goods and materials from other countries. Making other countries gain wealth and steady growth, whilst this country has a rapid decline and migration rate because everyone is so educated they realise the country is ******.

China is possibly the worlds most well off country at the moment, they outsource the majority of their education and use other countries resources to gain highly educated people whilst keeping hold of a massive manufacturing base.

I'm not saying out price the poorer people, give them a chance and ability to pay and take the opportunity... but don't hand out degrees to everyone.

You can.. unless you're a moron. It's pretty easy to get a degree. I did a course which required ABB results at the previous stage and in my final exams I only did 3 days revision per exam and came out with a degree. I only got CDD at the previous stage, so no I'm not a unique genius who is just super intelligent.

Unless you are a complete idiot, it's easy to walk out with a degree.

In countries that have free schools they also have something called selection.
People apply, they take entrance aptitude exams, that then average with their highschool grades, extraordianry achievements etc.
and then they take the best of the best, no matter how much money they have.
Average rich no longer take places in best universities just because they can afford them.
So no, not everyone would go to coledge if it was free. But it would achieve that those that truly deserve to get best education, really get it.

The UK is a services county. There are hardly any manual jobs. Most of us work in an office. We are doing alright. Better than most other countries.
The naturally stupid just won't go to Uni or whatever, as they drop out of school at 16 anyway. Not much would change.

Are you an idiot?
We are in over a trillion pound debt and we have over a 100billion pound deficit....

I find it unlikely that you will understand that so;

we have - £1,000,000,000,000
and each year we are earning - £100,000,000,000

The idiots that you are on about that drop out at 16 are the ones getting pregnant or going to jail, and are the ones that are just adding to our social services, hence making the system worse. They are the ones that need to be looked after and put into some form of education or training where they can learn skills and such so they aren't dependent on the state.

Ad hominem. Bad idea.
We have our A++ credit rating, which means that we are one of the best countries in the world financially. The people that stay in school, or the ones who are smart, will work in offices where they are needed. The people who drop out will do manual work (building, McDonalds etc). There is nothing wrong with this system. Our deficit will decrease over time. The entire economy of the world is based on debt. It is how it currently works.

"The deficit will decrease over time" - Even if it decreases it doesn't mean jack if we don't have surplus, we need to pay back the debt. Deficit means the debt we are increasing by each year.

LOL the economy is based on debt so let's carry on.... the most stupid thing I've ever heard. Each newborn is born with a debt of £17k, why not make it more hey.

Ever think that the people loaning us the money aren't in debt.. they have money, and they are making £40,000,000,000 in interest each year from us.

If you are in massive debt, you are not financially stable.

We have no surplus, but no county does.
You are making assumptions. I never said carry on, but it is how the entire global economy works. Every company relies on credit (i.e. the 30 days to pay an invoice). No one in automatically born into debt. It is the county, not the individual.

But hey, what do all the world economists know? Maybe you should be the treasurer!

Lol no economist will say you can live off services. You export next to nothing and import like a mad man. This is what USA and UK have moved towards and they are in the worst economic state they have been in.

this is such a bs point you're making. If people are truly "retarded" then they either won't pass or won't be accepted into the college. It's all about giving opportunity to less fortunate people. Lower the costs, up the standards. Simple.
