>implying that you need to have read the books to enjoy the politics at play, the deeply defined characters, and/or the complex plot

(P.S. without the show, I confess I wouldn't have bothered to buy the books. I owe the existence of the show for introducing me to such a well fleshed out world of high fantasy and intriguing action.)

I don't like reading the sex scenes in his book because whenever I read them I think of how dirty of an old man he is.

I do not know how comfortable I feel reading a description about a penis entering a vagina written by this guy.

As I recall, it's not the penis entering the vagina that's all that bad.
Rather, it's the 'hot seed' dripping down her leg.

America:

Where deaths, violence, war and dismembered people can go on tv all the time.

But brace yourself if you dare to show a nipple on TV!

Uhm, yes?
The first thing they see is nudity.

It's way worse to see extremeviolence as a kid, then there is to see a frikking nipple.

Correction: a "baby" sees nudity. A baby has doesn't know any better to think "bewbz!!!" All he wants to do is eat sleep and piss.

do it. great books. I am reading the 5th. book now. great books, only bad thing is that he takes ages to complete each book. from book 4 to book 5 it took 5 years. and in the end of book 4 he thought it would be out within a year or maybe 2.... so my guess is that book 6 is coming in between 2015-2017

It's a ******* slog and a total labor of love. I read Mists of Avalon at the age of 12 and War and Peace at 14 and nothing, I say, NOTHING, is like reading a Song of Ice and Fire. I would say it's like giving birth, but I've never given birth. It's a true test of your skill and quite frankly if there hadn't been a index of people and places I would have ******* lost.

because you dont have such trouble in most other countries....
you rather get trouble for violence or disrespectful behaviour than a nipple or sex... (for example in europe)

Well, in the content, he states that he regularly receives letters complaining about the sex in his books. We can then infer, using the context of his statement, that those letters are usually from Americans.

Because of all the first world Americans are only ones who have an incredibly double standard of sex and violence.
For example in most countries in Europe depending on which age bracket program or a book is, it will allow different things. no violence and sex, small amounts of violence and sex, moderate amounts of violence and sex and anything goes.
For americans it seems to be. No violence and sex. moderate amount of violence no sex, ******** of violence maybe boobs. anything goes violence some nudity.
It confuses a lot of people why showing brains flying over the wall is ok, but a nipple is not. And its very american thing.

No, I'm not. I nowhere said all individual americans are like that.
But Americans as a culture are exactly like that. General concensus of what is offensive and what is not in USA is heavily leaning on that depictions of violence is far more acceptalbe then depictions of sex.
In a movie targeted at teens you can put in decaptitations, people being crushed, shot, burned and drowned, no problem.
One nipple shows, uh-oh.

I honestly wonder if that has anything to do with the military, getting the youth accustomed to violence rather than sex, in effect getting more to enlist for army.

I live in Europe, and during 25 years of my life, I've never met anyone that would ever consider joining the military on their own. I suppose you really need to be an outsider, to see it in such a way.
