Look, an isolated incident, they're all nice guys! Nothing to worry about!
Just like there are isolated incidents of police brutality, but people assume that is the norm.
The reason we hear about those incidents is because they are UNCOMMON.
Please, friend, refer to my latest reply. I do apologize for being so vague and confrontational in my original comment.
and so if you saw some police brutality you would say "oh it's an isolated incident" because I don't think you would. I think you are the type of person that likes believing they are the victim and that every authority figure is evil.
I think you're the type of person that thinks any voice that says words that go against any authority figure is that of a rebellious man that disregards authority in whatever form it may take.
Don't jump to conclusions, my friend, I don't play the victim. I'm privy to calling out acts of unconstitutional violence and abuse of power no matter who it may be. All of my teachers in the past would say that I was a pleasure to have in their class and I've never been in trouble with the law because I have no reason to go looking for said trouble.
I'm simply the type of person that sees violence in the hearts of far too many men no matter what their skin color is. I'm just as likely to denounce a white racist for giving America a bad name as I am to denounce an African-American individual for holding back the Black community.
If my integrity is called into question, I am obliged to defend it. I don't wear a tinfoil hat nor do I bow in the presence of the badge.
i sincerely believe that most of those cases are for the greater good of the people and that upholding order with authority is of the utmost importance. i also believe that there are far more cases of authority figures doing good things than bad yet the media only portrays the dark side of things to hook viewers making the state of affairs appear far more grim than they actually are.
Indeed, my friend, the mainstream media rarely reports anything good. This leads to the sensationalizing of the populace at any type of bad thing, from Swine Flu to riots. Then again, though, there rarely is a story to be told when a Law Enforcement Officer does something good. It hits the viewers WAY harder when they hear "Police Officer Beats (Wo)Man."
I hate to use a quote from a Hollywood film but it does just drip with truth.
The Joker says something along the lines of the fact that when people hear of a school being blown up in Afghanistan or anywhere in the Mid-East, no one bats an eye because they expect it. But one bomb goes off and the populace is up and arms about Liberty, America, and how much they hate Muslims.
It pains me to know that my fellow countrymen and women all too often took the time out of mourning the lives lost in the bombing to express their hatred of an entire people for the acts of the extremist few.
There's nothing that says they aren't nice guys
Forgive me for being far too vague, my argument is not that all police are bad people, my argument is that the acts of police and other agencies in Watertown is seen as unconstitutional and a bit over the top.
Countless videos of police brutality, a few videos of forceful/aggressive searches of homes, using harsh language and aggressive tone and movements to the occupants of said home no matter what age...
I mean, come on.
So just because some bad cops do that, that means that ALL cops do/want to do that?
Nope. Once again, jumping to conclusions and putting words in my mouth, friend. Because some bad cops do that, that means that there are bad cops AND that they do that. I rarely ever take a "caught with the crows" stance on most anything. Come up with an actual argument instead of Ad Hominem, please.
Do keep in mind that I, in no way, hate the police, nor do I wish harm on them. When you boil it all down, Police are humans with thoughts, motives and feelings. While I do acknowledge that fact, I also am inclined to acknowledge that, once again, like humans, do take their badge as an S on their chest, so to speak.
