Wasn't it just White and his wife? Is this the first ever band breakup handled by the divorce court???

Actually they divorced back in 2004 or something but kept on playing together. The break-up has nothing to do with the break-up, so to speak.

(Still, Jack White could just do an album with the black keys and it would be the exact same thing since Meg hardly did anything in the stripes)

> Meg hardly did anything

Except for drums, various aspects of percussion, backing/occasional co-lead vocals, organ, and synthesizer, you're right, she didn't really do anything.

she was a pretty ****** drummer.

Jack White acknowledged this, and said that it was part of the distinctive sound he wanted.

Yeah, but he couldn't say that. He had to say it was "raw" or something.

I remember reading about it somewhere. Good way to work around the "******" part. She could be worse though. Lars Ulrich couldn't play through a whole song when he was doing mo-cap for the Metallica edition of Guitar Hero.

I don't know when he sleeps. He has a solo career, The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs, and the last time I heard he was doing the music for The Lone Ranger.

EDIT: Turns out the studio decided to say "**** that" and replaced White with Hans zimmer.

I heard one of the trailers with Jack White's stuff though, and it was incredible. I think they should've stuck with White.

She didn't even know how to play drums when they started the band, Jack taught her everything she knows. She can't sing either. Besides I don't think "various aspects of percussion" was what defined the white stripes sound.

Jack White is the most talented and inventive guitarist of the 00's and Meg is his ex-wife. That's it.

You can't even appreciate the fact that without Meg, there would be no "White Stripes" because it was her last name.

Also, I find no proof that Jack taught her how to play, only that she started playing with him (when, I don't know. Around the time they got married). If you have any proof that he taught her, please share it with me.

Anyone can sing. Whether it's good or not is influenced by personal opinion.

The drums were an integral part of TWS' sound. It might not have been the best drumming in the world, but it's important.

While Jack White is an incredibly talented guitarist, to say that he is the most talented puts down a lot of other most talented guitarists. There is no one most talented.

Side Note: The first TWS album came out in 1999, not 2000, so he started being amazing in the late '90s, not '00s.

Jack is a very good drummer. He said in an interview, that he used to figure out the drums for the songs and show them to meg on the early albums. Later on, she figured them out herself. Also, Jack mixed all the songs, so the classic White stripes drum sound is also his 'invention'.

IMO it's more accurate to say that Jack is the most talented guitar player of the 00's, not the late 90's.

Also, the name doesn't matter. They would have been just ass great if they were called anything else.

Meg not knowing how to drum wasn't a bad thing. I mean, you gotta start somewhere.

I get why Meg's drumming gets poked fun at sometimes. I mean, the person who plays drums for Jack White's solo stuff now makes it sound as though Meg was playing, so it sounds pretty similar to the Stripes. Still though, I think Meg was important to the Stripes' development and sound.

Jack White was previously John Anthony Gillis. He married Meg White and took her last name, because it sounds cooler than "The Gillis Stripes." They married in 1996 and divorced in 2000, the same year as the release of their second album. Instead of doing what some ex-couples do and hate each other, they were sane people, worked through their differences for whatever reason, and continued to make music until 2011.

I've always wanted Jack White and Jack Black to make an album together. Or maybe just a song or something.

That will unfortunately not happen for two reasons, one being the fact that the stripes don't plan on making music together anymore and second, jack white ******* HATES THE BLACK KEYS WITH A PASSION. He thinks they bummed of his sound that he managed to pioneer with nothing but a guitar and a very simple drum line and they don't deserve the praise they have received for their music.

But it's not Jack White's sound... he bummed his sound from some of the oldest blues acts in music history, like Robert Johnson, Howlin' Wolf, and Blind Willie McTell... for Jack White to somehow suggest that he was robbed of his sound by The Black Keys is also to believe that he invented Blues and Rock music itself...

His music is different though. He started the whole "weird" vibe that's taken off lately. to call jack white's music conventional rock and blues doesn't seem accurate.
