Not sure if anyone ever read those stories, but this just reminds me of the Amelia Bedelia book where they ask her for a sponge cake and this is essentially what she gives them.

This reminds me of a story.
A very long time ago when I was in my teens my friend was driving me and some other way too drunk guys home. The guy in the front passenger seat vomited out of the window, and got vomit all over the car. The sober guy didn't want it to damage the paint job, so he pulled up at a carwash and started hosing off the car.

I suddenly had to vomit too, but since the car was stationary I opened the door and vomited on the ground. When I finished vomiting I looked on the ground and saw that there was a sponge in my vomit.

Now... The obvious answer to how this happened was that there was a sponge on the ground that I then vomited on. However... I was so drunk that I could not fathom this concept. I kept insisting that I vomited up a sponge, and I got all scared, because I didn't remember eating a sponge. My friends later told me that I got really freaked and wouldn't stop talking about it for hours.
