As a Christian myself, I try not to hate anyone. It's true I may not agree with some people's beliefs or actions, but that doesn't mean I can't still like the person. In the same way that I want people to respect my beliefs and I actions, I will do the same for theirs. I may vocalize my opinion, but I won't by any means try to shove anything down their throat or have any malice towards them.

I m going to the army in a week. And my mortality is just hitting me. I m agnostic but the concept of death keeps biting at the back of my mind. I need some advice.

It's open minded Christians like these that made me respect religion.
I'm all for believing in what you'd like, but don't use your faith as a crutch to express your own disliking for something.

Exemplary. Now if only people who simply find it disgusting for their own petty reasons got out from underneath their rock and took note.

My freind and his boyfreind were shunned from his parents church when he came out of the closet infront all the people he considered family. Even by his own parents, he was kicked out of his house and he didn't know what to do. Back when I used to go to church, I talked to the preacher/pastor which ever it is, he said to send him over. Preacher guy ended up adopting my freind and proudly promoting homosexuality within the church.

My view is the same as Louis C.K. : If you went outside every sunday and two gays were ******* on your lawn, and if they ****** you in the ass every time you back was turned, sure hate them, you have reason to. If they go about their lives, and don't bother you, the same as straight people, why have a problem? I hate seeing gay people make out right in front of me....I hate straight people doing it just as much. Whether a guy likes men or not shouldn't effect your view on them, you're not the one who has to take up the arse.

I personally don't think being gay is right, but I do believe that they should still be treated with love. There is no reason to hate a person for the simple fact that they're gay. You're not supposed to hate anyone. Jesus said love everyone... That includes everyone, all people, every single person, as well as everyone and everyone else.

That "Pastor" was definitely gay

okay
homosexuality goes against my religous ideals
not my personal ones
If by the bill of rights given to us under the founders of this nation says that all me are created equal
white, black, hispanic, green, blue, whatever
then they have the right
but if some dude comes up and grabs my crotch
and says he wants to **** my ass he's getting punched
User avatar #417 to #411 - ewowo (04/16/2013) [-]
Well if some dude did that to a woman he'd end up getting punched too. It's just inappropriate behaviour.

People can be gay without being obnoxious.
#289 - shrapnelleader (04/16/2013) [-]
Treating your neighbor as you would want to be treated includes ALL men and women, regardless of faith, gender, race, beliefs, etc.

The world needs love and compassion, not cruelty and prejudice, and while the Bible is clear on its stance with homosexuality, that doesn't mean Christians (like myself) have the right to step on others.

I have gay and bi friends and they respect me just like I respect them. Many have asked why I'm so nice to them despite my faith. To be honest, I never really thought about it that much for the longest time. I just treat all people right and their sexual preference is, to me, an afterthought. Besides, It breaks my heart seeing homosexuals treated like dirt because I know that they want to be accepted no less than I would want to be.

It's hard to try to convince the world that the Bible teaches compassion and not hatred, but it takes effort to prove that preconception wrong. All I can do is live my own life as a positive example, and one way to start is to show the gays that they are loved and they are accepted, even by people who don't agree with their lifestyle.

Loving your neighbor =/= Supporting gay marriage with a smile on your face

I don't support homosexuality. But I'm not for treating them as subhumans. In my opinion, homosexuality is like infidelity or alcoholism. Don't agree with it, but it happens. And it doesn't make the people involved any less human.

This is coming from a pretty religious Christian.
You have to remember that the books of the bible were written by a bunch of old guys 2000+ years ago. They were very, very wise and enlightened by the lord, but the times were different. Any ridiculous statement like being gay is a sin (which was a misinterpreted verse anyway, it had something to do with tampering with the property of your neighbor) or ones that don't believe in god or haven't heard of him don't go to heaven, should not be taken seriously today. If god made us and planned for genetics to be the way we develop, why did he allow there to be a gay gene if it's supposedly a sin? because it isn't. It was considered as a sin by a person or small group of people 2000 years ago, which at the time, seemed reasonable. If a person was raised Hindu but is an extremely kind and moral person that saved and changed lives for the better multiple times in his life, he wont rot in hell simply because he follows his heart in what he believes, he'll get a VIP ticket and get permission to cut to the front of the line when entering the golden gates. Now I supposed believing in god in the form he wants to be represented in does give you an advantage i suppose, Say a catholic that prays out of his heart everyday, is an African slave owner and rapist, he won't be seeing pearly gates any time soon. I feel that everyone has an opportunity to get into whatever form of heaven their is. Just be a good person and do not act unjust for the sake of doing so. Follow a good path or morals and stick by them, help others and serve the essence of Good. You may not get into your own vision of a good afterlife, but if you follow a good moral (such as no killing "infidels" for your god for starters) and serve the element of Goodness faithfully, I guarantee that you will love the damn out of the afterlife realm you enter.
Thank you for reading. If you didn't, I don't mind. If you think I'm full of **** blasphemy, that's nice too.

its good to give credit to an open minded christian, since all most of us hear about are pricks like westboro.
As someone that is somewhere between agnostic and atheist, i have found that religion isnt the problem, its people who are arseholes.
