I'm studying to become a vet. You could get hundreds of thousand dollars per year just by checking to see if a dog has worms, cancer, and the likes. And you can't really outsource veterinary work, making it a dream job for my inner animal person.

I applied to 10 super markets and a few other places where i could work over the summer back home from college but none of them called back, the only job i got was from a connection and giving French Horn lessons, all jobs today seem to be through connections

Please don't act like there are jobs going but we just don't want to do them. It pisses people off who really want to work. There is nothing in our district, it's classed as economically deprived by the government. I would be ******* thankful to pick vegetables just to make some money. It's not like I'm under qualified either! I'm a bioscience student.

Actually, I've applied for all the ******** of jobs before i started applying for higher paying ones. I only started applying for jobs like Dentists, Doctors, Managers etc when I was getting rejected for fast food places, hard labour places (Building Sites, Gardening etc) and Call centres. Now I continue to apply for jobs that I have 0 chance in just hoping someone will mistake boredom with hopefulness and accept me.

Which is kind of sad because quite a few 'blue collar jobs' *at least where I am in Canada* pay crazy good with full time hours and benefits. But it seems like people these days want the benefits without putting in the effort. Which in the states makes it impossible now to work your way up the ladder in your field of work to a better paying job because it lead to no jobs being available for those who went to University and the like because their handing them out to people who don't deserve it..... -.- I'm rambling now... lol
#10 to #3 - bonibonsiker (04/14/2013) [-]
i thought there were no jobs in canada

User avatar #11 to #10 - mizzycupcakes (04/14/2013) [-]
... why would you think that?
#15 to #11 - bonibonsiker (04/14/2013) [-]
because i was thinking about immigration and every canadian ive talked to said there were no jobs and people were having a hard time living
User avatar #42 to #15 - ilovehitler ONLINE (04/14/2013) [-]
Maybe they don't want you there so they tell you there's no jobs.
User avatar #16 to #15 - mizzycupcakes (04/14/2013) [-]
I guess it depends where you are. I've talked to quite a few and it sort of is a problem. Not to sound racist but i've never seen so many chinese and indian people in my life until I came here. But there are still jobs available, people just dont want to do them.

Are there good jobs in British Columbia?
User avatar #56 to #41 - mizzycupcakes (04/14/2013) [-]
as far as I'm aware there are some really good cities in bc that have INSANE amounts of construction going on so there are a ton of those kind of jobs available. (I would think that a few oil rigs are up there too) I know Armstrong is one of them. its booming because of Kelowna. though that place is kinda scary cuz of the hells angels that were there xD

It's pretty sad when you interview for an entry level job that you're overqualified for and yet they say you don't have enough experience. If more companies were willing to train people instead of looking for someone who can start working immediately without any learning curve at all, the unemployment rate would drop quite a bit.
