Nice. People tend to not want to acknowledge that all human civilizations influence each other at some point, positively.

One example, being that the Muslim Arabs played a big role in sparking the renaissance age of Europe, what with the studies of Algebra, Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, and Biology having advanced drastically from Middle Eastern scientists.
#78 to #40 - cheesedoodles (04/12/2013) [-]
The majority of "muslims" who had influenced Western Europe were actually Christians and Jews who took Arabic names because that was required at the time. The first book translated into Arabic was done so by a Jewish Persian physician. The Dome of the Rock is very similar to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre because it was designed and built by the same Coptic Christians and Byzantine architects that built the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The great "Arabic" advances in astronomy were stolen from the Hindus and Zoroastrians. The majority of Muslim rulers maintained a large staff of Christians and Jews to handle book keeping and record keeping for a reason.

I have nothing against Muslims and they did indeed contribute to world civilization, but I think credit needs to be given when its due. The majority of their advances were actually the works of others.
User avatar #89 to #78 - lamarisagoodname (04/12/2013) [-]
The first verse introduced in Islam was "Iqraa'" which means to read or study (as the prophet was illiterate at the time) so when the church was busy killing "witches", protestants and galileo, muslims were exploring avenues of biology, physics, medicine, mathematics and many more.
#148 to #89 - cheesedoodles (04/15/2013) [-]
Interesting, then why is Saladin thought to have burned the Library of Alexandria to the ground?

The Muslim aristocracy was very anti-learning in practice. Why did they need to maintain such a large number of educated Christians and Jews in their courts well into the 1300's? The WHEEL disappeared from lands conquered by the Muslims for nearly 150 years. Roads were considered too difficult and costly to maintain even though a wagon pulled by oxen or horses could carry as much as 8 camels could.

Muslims did not explore any of those areas for the most part. The bulk of that work was done by Hindus, Christians, Zoroastrians, the Ancient Greeks and Romans, and Jews. They have shown their inability to maintain a navy due to a lack of expertise in the realm of shipbuilding. Here the Christians were lightyears ahead.

Wow, I'm impressed there's a religion post on FJ that not posted in atheism channel and has positive meanings. Plus point that this one is from Islam, not Christian.
Especially with the fact that I'm a moslem.

Ofcourse there are so many that act like faggots in the name of islam, but everybody knows the media exaggerates everything creating a mess, there's always a hand in dividing people remember that. the people you refer to is 10% of the muslims why do you blame the 90%?
#88 to #27 - lamarisagoodname (04/12/2013) [-]
The sunni muslims are the ones that keep to themselves and just focus on scientific, philosophical, psychological and Quranic studies just as the Islamic law states. This is the first time you've actually read anything about orthodox Islam.

And then Americans make the whole "The stupidest members of a demographic yell the loudest, we're not all fat, lazy and violent" kinda flawed, isn't it?

That would be an extremely entertaining, yet controversial, game to play. Of course, Hitler would obviously be a Templar, but interesting nonetheless.

Long story short, prophet Mohammed said: I am the city of knowledge and ali is its gate. If you wanna know true Islam look him up, Islamist of today suck and extremists does not know **** giving horrible background to Muslims while this guy is what represents true Islam.

says Muhammad really represents Islam: Muhammad was a genocidal, peadophile, rapist who owned sex slaves and killed infidels.

Don't raise your children your way raise them how I tell you to raise them...
#11 - John Cena (04/12/2013) [-]
But people mollycoddle children these days and they're little ***** .

Honestly, back when I was 7 if your mum told you to do something you got your ass in gear and did it. It's not just a complete lack of respect for your parents but any authority figure, kids aren't scared of the police or going to jail any more.

I know what you're thinking, but revilo, what do you a most likely single teenager, know about children, well let me tell you people of FJ I have volunteered at a youth group, I have been in charge of looking after kids from 5-8 and 8-11. Safe to say these kids don't know what "Just a game" means. I have seen kids on the brink of crying for coming second, lil mother ******* aren't been taught it's the fun of the game, the thrill of the fight, rising up to... wait... But seriously, second place, I remember hearing the leader of the club say we have to change to games where they're not out just so they don't sulk.
