Yes but in percentage of GDP they're ranked 21. While the top 13 spots are European.

Aside from the US.... Every country is foreign to the US...

That's like saying China got the most homeless. Of cause they have the most homeless, they're like the second biggest country in the world or something like that. If you look which country gives the most money to charity compared to how much they earn, USA won't even be in the top 10.

I agree with what you said, but China is the biggest country in the world by BIGGG margin

India isn't far behind, but they are both wayyyy ahead of the US who is in third.

I think the joke points at how america feels it is the only country in the world, in a sense of beeing bigger, more important and stuff

Considering how big your country is, I think it's fair. Denmark gives the most, size considered.
I don't know if that made sense...

Those are percentages, not actual monetary values. Considering that EU's combined economy barely edges out America's economy in terms of size, 0.4% is still a ******** of money.

And your point is?
User avatar #135 to #121 - ompalomper (04/11/2013) [-]
you forget that this is only for development assistance i.s. roads, schools, hospitals, other stuff needed to make the country more advanced and well functioning. i don't know but i would guess that the US simply puts more money in food and immediate assistance instead of making the conditions better. while i think that making the base conditions better should be better, i realize that that is pointless if they are all dead of starvation by the time it's fixed.
User avatar #127 to #121 - burningsmurfs (04/11/2013) [-]
How much money do each of those actually equate to though? The U.S. COULD be donating more cash than others but not as high of a percent of their whole income. I'd try to figure it out but when I try maths the numbers get all backwardsy in my head and I get confused.
#229 to #127 - anon (04/11/2013) [-]
Yes, but as a percentage makes more sense. Saying that the US gives more money while other countries give a bigger fraction of their income is demagogy.
User avatar #139 to #127 - clockworkmage (04/11/2013) [-]
Hm. Fair point, but I still dislike how OP says what he says, and yet I've heard nothing but otherwise.
User avatar #140 to #139 - burningsmurfs (04/11/2013) [-]
Yeah I try to think of both sides when I see stuff like that since lots of news and stuff like that try to skew the point of view to their favor. I have heard the U.S. donates most and also donates very little so I can't really share my opinion either way. I'd try to do the math like I said but I get kinda dyslexic with numbers after so long.
User avatar #234 to #140 - clockworkmage (04/11/2013) [-]
Well, you make a good point and I salute you for that.
(And use your math skills often; it makes up for the people who are doomed to have dyscalculia ;_;)
User avatar #235 to #234 - burningsmurfs (04/11/2013) [-]
Yeah when I try, like when I had math courses and stuff I CAN do it but it is just so unenjoyable and boring to me my mind just won't stay centered on what I'm doing so I just don't even like to think about it for long periods of time. If I can do it in my head that's fine but it's like looking at paintings of an artist I hate over and over, I don't like it so I just have no desire to really pursue anything in that area.

They steal other countries oil and gain a **** ton of profit.

You're just overthinking it. To someone from another country, the U.S. is foreign. Or maybe you are retarded? Also, you look like you could use this.

The US is 1st in foreign aid in only absolute terms.
But the US is 19th by GDP percentage given to foreign aid, with Sweden in 1st.
American gives more because it has more, not because they're more generous.

BTW saying USA or US is not the same as saying America, you are referring to a continent when you say America [url deleted]
