You have to have a certain look to make a fedora and trench coat work....

..You have to have that PI/detective look.

fedora and trench coat haven't worked since the 40's I'm afraid

though the trenchcoat can be worn with a suit like the whole scooter/mod/city boy look

I can make a black fedora work with a black leather jacket, but that is about it. You get kind of like, a jazz/Keyboardist look. It's not class..it's like....jazzy-ness. If it is too casual, it looks terrible. Like in the above picture you posted. Also the style of fedora matters a lot.

You have to be at least 40 to make a trenchcoat work.
