Either way it's just a joke, just like supporting gay marriage doesn't make you a unicorn loving, girly, flamboyant man.

Not technically, but socially, (Not just if you disagree with gay marriage, just disagree in general) then you get classed as a nazi by oblivious retards, thinking the only thing the nazi's done was the holocaust.

I don't think he's saying that all who disagree are Nazis. I think he's comparing her to the Nazis, who hated gay people and tried to purge them in the Holocaust (Along with cripples, gypsies, and a ******** of other people).
#38 to #27 - iamphoenix (04/10/2013) [-]
All she said was that she didn't support gay marriage and he related her to Nazis. Comparing her to a group that was responsible for permanently tarnishing Germany's reputation and slaughtering a dozen million people is pretty damn awful.

I know, I'm just saying that I don't think he was going by the philosophy "Anybody who disagrees with me is a Nazi".

freedom of speech works both ways
people are entitled to disagree with gay marriage, and people are entitled to call those people Nazis

Although I do disagree with the nazi part. Freedom of Speech is there to disagree with things and so on, without being silenced. Even if you want to hear what they say or not. 'Murica. **** yea.

The following does not reflect my stance on gay marriage.

Some people that don't support gay marriage have nothing against gays and believe that a union between two people of the same sex should have all the benefits given to a heterosexual married couple. They just believe that the term marriage should be reserved only for a union between a man and a woman.
#8 to #5 - tomthehippie (04/10/2013) [-]
Only we tried "separate but equal", and it didn't work out.
#15 to #8 - John Cena (04/10/2013) [-]
yes, because completely segregating a group of people is absolutely the same as reserving the term "marriage", which is actually a sacrament in the Catholic religion. I don't care whether gays get married or not because it has nothing to do with me, but comparing people reserving the word used in a sacrament to people such as those in the KKK who lynched black people is a bit of a stretch.
User avatar #18 to #15 - Crusader (04/10/2013) [-]
Baptism is a sacrament in the catholic church as well
gays can be baptized

Not to mention marriage is not JUST catholic
It's orthodox, Jewish, Protestant, Muslim, Shinto, Hindu, Buddhist, found in Pagan cultures, etc.
#52 to #18 - John Cena (04/10/2013) [-]
Sorry but gays can still be married in a catholic church, just not to some one of the same sex.
#16 to #15 - tomthehippie (04/10/2013) [-]
So, are atheists not allowed to marry? How about Buddhists?

Oh, wait, that's right, in AMERICA you can be married by a judge!

So, tell me again how marrage is something that only Catholicism does?
User avatar #11 to #8 - alexrider (04/10/2013) [-]
Are they using separate water fountains? or bathrooms? Do we banish gays to the back of the bus? No- there is NOT an equality issue
#14 to #11 - tomthehippie (04/10/2013) [-]
Yes it is. What is wrong about calling it the same thing? There is NO logical reason not to.

The ONLY rational for giving the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transexual community a different name for their marriage is because idiots get their panties in a bunch that "OMG, THEY ARE GETTING MARRIED!"
#17 to #14 - John Cena (04/10/2013) [-]
or instead of being some bitch ass american liberal on the internet, you could realize people shouldnt get **** for getting married like all this tax ********
User avatar #24 to #5 - durkadurka ONLINE (04/10/2013) [-]
So why doesn't the government stop recognizing "marriage" for ALL people and instead recognize a "union" or what have you. The churches could then refer to it as marriage, which would have recognition in the church, but not with governments.

This way everyone is treated completely equal under the law, and religious people will still have marriage as a sacrament.

You know this person isn't literally calling them a Nazi, but rather comparing her narrow minded ideologies that to the narrow minded ideologies of the Nazis. Basically he is comparing the fact that both the women and Nazis had a unethical point of view

I seem to be a little under educated on this subject, mind explaining Godwin's Law (reason why i'm not goggling is because it seems like a complex subject)
User avatar #301 to #296 - vonspyder ONLINE (04/11/2013) [-]
its not. I promise. very easy. "Godwin's Law: Any person in a debate or argument who makes a reference to Nazi's automatically loses said debate/argument."
