In the U.S, the largest percentage of imported oil comes from canada, followed by mexico.

I didn't realize you meant while we were home, I thought you mean't while we were gone. Almost everyone I know keeps their front doors locked because theres no need to open it, but while were home we never lock our back door, its practically always wide open.

We rarely lock it when we are home. If we go out for more than an hour we lock our doors though.

Depends on where you are. If you live in a city (I live in Calgary, AB) you always lock your doors. In fact we have multiple locks. However in some towns like Moosejaw, SK, my Grandma leaves both her front doors wide open in the summer to cool her house down without any fear of robbery or anything; shes been doing that for like 20 years.
In fact, in some places up north people leave their cabins unlocked year round even when away for the winter. The reason for this is because of native tribes who wander the areas. Lots are looking for warm places to stay, rather than outside all the time for short periods of time. If you lock your door, theyll break in and leave it like that, but if you leave it open theyll come in, use it for what they need and leave it the way they came in as if they were never there.
tl;dr it depends on where you live. If its a city, hell no. If its somewhere else like a town, potentially true.

Not when people are home and such. At night I do and when i go out. My city's ranked #21 in Canada for crime though and our B and E rate is over 700 per 100,000 (national average is about 500) so my case might be a bit different. I could see that maybe happening in some of the smaller more rural parts of Canada but not any larger city.

WHAT? It's normal to lock you're door when you're home? That really suprised me, like really really.

I'm not very surprised. Our homicide rate is 1.6:100,000 and yours is 4.8:100,000 plus you have more guns than we have people, no offense meant of course. I'd probably lock my door in that situation too, but there's relatively little violent crime in Canada so i guess people feel a bit safer(?)

You better be. I'm not like other Canadians. I wouldn't say "Sorry for yelling" NO!
I don't say sorry to anyone
