SHEEP ARE BORN WITH LONG TAILS. The tails are usually docked into little nubs to prevent flystrike.

But, Stephen fry lives in a clean enviroment, therefore the need for docking is not needed. ALSO, purebred breeds of sheep leave the tail long as tradition.

Did work experience on a farm for two weeks, and to dock their tail they usually put a tight elastic band around the tail shortly after birth. Within a few days it had dried out and falls off. This also works for castrating them too.
