The "Unless you take care of it" one is ******** .

And the "Those are the ones that couldn't accept you for who you are" is also ******** .

Your optimism is worthy of the mentally retarded.

I'd like to beat every optimist like you, until they thought "Could only go uphill from here" then piss in their mouth and cut off their testicles.
#77 to #56 - aviatrix (04/08/2013) [-]
Yeah, you're right.

It's so much ******* easier to get out of bed in the morning when I think about how much dick life sucks.

Have you ever thought that some people don't act this optimistic because they feel like it? That they act like this because they have to? **** you.
User avatar #136 to #77 - smittywrbmnjnsn (04/08/2013) [-]
I'm not sure.

If you're not strong enough to face life as it is...perhaps it's life's way of telling you that you shouldn't be living.

Obviously it is harder to "get out of bed in the morning" when you see things as they are.
But those who can...make a stronger character.

#326 to #136 - wingeddemon (04/09/2013) [-]
You're right, those who face harder challenges/struggles in life do become stronger, or people who except the truth in things. But that doesn't make it right for everyone else, some people don't see it this way and will have a "great" life and still have a "strong character". It is not necessarily bad to think optimistically, just different, like you. I am not saying you are a downer, or you are not right, I am saying it is hard to base someones "self" facts on opinion.

I was really hoping for someone to go "That escalated quickly".
But, you know...I guess we can't have everything.

Those two that I mentioned, were genuinely flawed logic though.
User avatar #61 to #60 - tojimajia (04/08/2013) [-]
ah, well I'd do"boy, that escalated quickly" but I don't have the pic
and perhaps they are a bit flawed, but their is some truth to them.
User avatar #139 to #61 - smittywrbmnjnsn (04/08/2013) [-]
I think they're more than a bit flawed.
If I pointed out all those that were "A bit flawed" I would have a lot more.
I listed the ones that were completely incorrect.
And perhaps I went too far with the "Chop off their testicles" (maybe you're a woman), but I was trying to make an ironic situation in which an optimist were to 'eat their own words' in a way.

Honestly, optimists irritate me slightly, but no more that slightly.
#158 to #139 - tojimajia (04/09/2013) [-]
Tell me why? is it because you can't wipe that smile from their face?
User avatar #330 to #158 - smittywrbmnjnsn (04/09/2013) [-]
Because they can't just take things as they are.
They have to twist everything, until it makes them happy.
User avatar #337 to #330 - tojimajia (04/09/2013) [-]
are you sure thats what they do,or is that what you Think they do?
User avatar #338 to #337 - smittywrbmnjnsn (04/09/2013) [-]
What do you think they do?
#339 to #338 - tojimajia (04/09/2013) [-]
I think many of them accept things at face value and not let it bother them. or even they see the good even in the worst situations. its not that they twist what they perceive, its that they don't let it dampen their spirits. and even if you were right, what is so wrong about optimism. does it hurt you to see them smiling no matter the how bad things seem? I'd liek to think their smile can upholp the morale of a whole group when times are tough.

In a way, I admire them, because I don't smile. I'm always so obsessive over the bad things i almost never see the better things.

Just for the sake of my argument, I'll present this scenario.

If I were in combat, and I had the choice of squadmates, I would not want someone who would say "We'll make it out of here guys, no matter what". Because I would not trust that person to do what they could to save my life. If they had a chance to run, and they turned, and saw me at the point of a knife, they might say "He may still get out of it".

I want a man, who would sit, and go "The ONLY way we're getting out of here, is if we do exactly this". Someone that understands death as a very common outcome.
Someone who would look back to me at knife point, and say "The ONLY way he's getting out of here, is if I help him".
User avatar #341 to #340 - tojimajia (04/09/2013) [-]
mm, well I understand that, but that isn't an optimist, that's a coward who hides behind optimism as an excuse.
User avatar #317 to #56 - lorddrake (04/09/2013) [-]
Could you explain why you think it's he's not right?

Mostly the part about how optimistic is a bad thing.
User avatar #333 to #317 - smittywrbmnjnsn (04/09/2013) [-]
He is incorrect, where he said "Your body will crap out, long before you do"..."unless you take care of it".
That is false, because the more you take care of your body, the longer you survive, and your body will deteriorate eventually. That is fact.
The last one, about people not accepting you for who you are, is wrong too.
A lot of people here, don't like me. And it's not because they don't accept me. It's because I'm a HUGE dick. They are not at fault. I am.

And, the last part was meant to be taken as a joke.
User avatar #335 to #333 - lorddrake (04/09/2013) [-]
Alright I see. Thanks!

And well... you do put your words in the worst way possible, making people go ******** on your comments. wich i find very funny But from how you replied to me and the others, you don't seems like a dick to me. Just someone who got opinions and who's genuine about them.
#198 to #56 - lolibear (04/09/2013) [-]
Neither pessimism nor optimism is entirely right, but within reasonable boundaries, both can be helpful. You aren't being realistic, you are being an extreme pessimist. Stop being a bitter asshole on the internet because you think your life sucks. You have internet, which can pretty much tell me you have food and at least some level of shelter. Instead of looking at how horrible life is, try to do something to make it better.
User avatar #332 to #198 - smittywrbmnjnsn (04/09/2013) [-]
Did I say my life sucks?
My life doesn't suck. I have a pretty great life. A good enough life that...the bad, feels pretty good too. But no one, should make fake hope for themselves.

most of those are ******* stupid.

the overpopulation one, for example: the problem isn't total population, it's gross imbalance of wealth (and therefore food) in fact overpopulation has nothing to do with money or food.

and i don't think many people experience their dreams coming true, and some that do encounter more severe issues than disappointment afterwards. that's not much of a problem in and of itself but it contradicts the statement in the image, because the statement was totally wrong.

and i dont think i have to say anything about "ignorance is bliss"

User avatar #303 to #222 - anniethreeone (04/09/2013) [-]
I agree the overpopulation one isn't great, but I disagree with you about the dreams coming true bit. It's a conditional clause: "If you work hard". It's saying if you genuinely put in the work to achieve something, it will most likely happen.
As for disappointment, I'm not satisfied with "I'd rather do nothing than risk trying and failing." But I suppose that is a basic difference between optimism and pessimism.
Cool story, right?

#296 to #235 - anniethreeone (04/09/2013) [-]

Be glad you're going through a rough week, because with the rough times in life, it just makes the good times that much sweeter. It's always darkest before the dawn, as they say. Just relax and look to the future with your chin up.

That's not how it works at all, people who were born with little or no chance of survival were not "the weak ones". If people in this country are born and aren't particularly well, we have medicine and surgery to fix it. If people in 3rd world countries are born and aren't particularly well, they don't even have food, let alone medicine.
