Bikes were made to be $1 above the maximum amount of money you could have in the game, so you can never outright buy one! But there's always some dude who gives you one for no reason :P

I remember a kid in my class tell me he bought the bike without the bike voucher. He went around bragging to all of his friends.

Perhaps the bike is so expensive because it is made from a material that never breaks, and pokeballs sometimes break while catching pokemon with a high level.

But there's only one in all of Kanto, Cerulean, where she and her sisters grew up.

I think we're mixing the game and the anime too much. In the anime, the towns were much bigger, and there should be more bike stores.

I always thought the bike was 1,000,000 and you could only get up to 999,999.

Time to be "that guy"

-pokeballs are 200
-its yen not pounds
-wtf is this subatomic ********? does this person even know what that means? What makes most sense is they are stored virtually similar to the way the PCs work

Actually, the icon indicating pokecurrency is most similar to the symbol for pounds. If it was Yen, Yen per dollar is currently trading at 98.35 making the bike still $10,000. I also hate to be that guy.

The 10,000 dollar bike doesn't make much sense, but other items are fairly priced. Heck, post cards are $.50. That's way cheaper than most gas stations, which is what pokemarts basically are.
