I am still crushed by the thought of no Battlefront III and 1313, but at least source code for older games is being released.

While it might have lost its luster near the end of it's life, Lucasarts made some of the funnest games ever.

Best ******* star wars game, hands down. If only we could have a sequel...Imagine it with more advanced AI and squad technology

Also one of the few that LucasArts actually developed

I recently reinstalled SWRC and played it for a little while. I found it kinda funny and weird how the way shooters feel have changed so much over the years. "z" to zoom, "c" to crouch, the way the character and aim flows...

Soooo many memories. I think I need to go and play it some more.

Also the exploit where you stand just out of reach for the super-battle-droids to punch you, but they don't shoot :D

Interplay Entertainment, more specifically Black Isle Studios.

Not to say I'm happy LA is gone, i am disappointed like most everyone else. Yet, I just felt the need to share my opinion on what companies I feel make the best Adventure + RPG games.

Lucas Arts will still be around, they just wont be a publisher anymore, they will have the same people and the same teams making new starwars games. its like when 343 industries bought the "Halo" franchise. they didnt **** everything up.
plus Lucas Arts was only responsible for a few games. Star wars battlefront was developed by pandemic, Lucas Arts was involved, but in the same way Zenimax is involved with Bethesda when making The Elder Scrolls

Bungie still exists, 343i is not the same as Bungie at all, aside from the presence of Frank O'connor and a few others. According to who you ask, some will certainly say 343i ****** quite a few things up in the Halo Universe.

I know they are not the same, but 343 hired the same people that were involved in the Halo Franchise, that's the point I was trying to make. and i guess it just matters who you ask. Hardcore Fanboys will despise Disney, while others like me have faith in them. Just look at what they are doing with The Avengers. Disney is also multi billion dollar company that can fund the starwars franchise a lot more.
not implying that Lucas Arts couldn't fund itself, but Disney can do it much better.

You have a point about the Disney thing. Disney did indeed make most of our childhoods and the Avengers (made my Disney) was a huge success. HOWEVER, back on the 343 topic (you were right about Disney so no real need to discuss). As a game Halo 4 was fun, it was even good. As a "Halo" game, it was very poor in quality. There is a reason that whenever people compare call of duty and halo that you could say, you can't compare the two because they are completely different games. You can't say that now. The undeniable facts are that they did copy some portions of call of duty. They even said they did. They wanted to remove the "learning curve" Halo had that put some people off. That curve was there because Halo is a game that actually does involve skill. Call of duty is hard to be great at, but it is very easy to be good at it. You pick your strengths and you pick how you want to start the match. Halo, you are to deal with the hand you are dealt. If someone from an enemy team picks up a sniper before you, then you kill them to get it or feed them kills while you die trying. Even though 343 said their halo would be different from Bungie's, they really did change a lot. The system is based on rewarding everyone equally. Leveling up is not based on skill nor wins, but rather participation. If a noob and a pro play at the same time every day until they hit 180 and they always play the same matchs, they will hit 180 at the exact same time. Yes there is a match win bonus, but it is very miniscule. It H4, doesn't reward those that do good, but rather attempts. It promotes that everybody is a winner even if you lose. That is just a small part of why this is a good game, but a terrible Halo game.

I'll admit, reach was a little bit off from the previous Halos, but you must admit is was still fields closer than 4. One of the things Reach had was the many game options. There were so many amazing maps and gametypes that came outta reach that Halo 4 took the ability to make away.

Agreed, the only thing that reach added was the loadouts/armor abilities so for the most part it was the same.

You. People. Are. *******. Retarded.

The games can still be made if there is demand from them, LucasArts technically still exists, it just no longer is a production studio and is instead a licensing model which means.....ANOTHER ******* DEV TEAM CAN ACQUIRE THE LICENSE AND MAKE THE DAMN GAME.

Stop acting like there will never be another star wars game, or any other game that LucasArts owned the rights to, there will.

Wow sparky, not to mention that comment you left was incredibly simple minded and obviously written by somebody who doesn't understand the business model Disney usually goes for and converted LucasArts into, but you also are not even worth the time to log onto different accounts. I didn't thumb you down once, people just realize your stupidity.

I never had the intention of implying that there wouldn't be fantastic Star Wars games in the future made by other developers. If this post came across as that, sorry. I was simply mourning the loss of the actual developer.

Not entirely based at you, it's more the people who have the idea that this is the end of star wars games or even LucasArts in general. (Most likely you may still see a LucasArts symbol if Disney puts it in that the licensing section has to be represented on the product)

Lucasarts didn't make Battlefront 1 or 2, Pandemic did.
They haven't made a good game in years, only published great games. Hopefully Disney will look at the endless piles of money we all want to throw at them and see sense.

Well, I for one am adding Disney and all it's affiliates on my list, along with EA.

Sure, I'll pirate the **** out of them, But never will those money greedy companies see 2 cents out of me. Their rampart buying out of other companies is getting to the point where we will be as limited on game choice as we are in cellphone companies right now. The american Economy has allowed for Capitalism to go free and the government only steps in in cases of Extreme instance.

You guys do know this is not the end of Star Wars games, right?

Admit it. Just admit it. Lucas Arts hasn't pushed out a good game in years. They've been terrible for a long, long time.

Disney is allowing other gaming companies to create Star Wars games. The biggest Star Wars game that came out recently was by Bioware, not LA.

Old Republic was good but I eventually quit. I was tired of paying for World of Warcraft with light sabers. Don't get me wrong the cinematics were great and I liked the lightside or darkside choices but it all boiled down to being a World of Warcraft clone.

1313 looked great, a game fit for today's modern standards of gaming. That could have been the beginning of LucasArts turnaround. I do agree that after 2006 they were losing their shine quickly.

But with LA's cautiousness...It would be a long time till it came out under them.

They're auctioning off the rights to loads of Lucas Arts intellectual properties though.
Right now is probably the best chance we've ever had for a Battlefront 3 because I'm sure loads of other companies know that we're clamoring for it.
Same can be said for Republic Commando 2.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a proper KoTOR 3.

If you read the source, you would know that Disney has no intention of auctioning the cancelled projects to other developers, like 1313, and there is a very slim chance of other original IP's being sold off. There might be more Star Wars games since Disney will probably license out the actual Star Wars Universe sounds and IP.
