Of course all Africa's economic growth is through wireless, there seem to be so many more wealthy African princes since the internet came into being.

I love how its like using the Indians as an example of **** tier people, like "It was only the rich who had these before! But now even the dirty Indians have them too!" It gave me a good giggle.
#243 to #155 - anon (04/03/2013) [-]
India is a developing country with over a billion people and huge population density. "Indian" here refers to people living in the nation, not the race. Therefore it's very impressive. Not because the race is dirty but because the country is relatively poor.

the low numbers in old times are infant mortality rates as outliers to people who survived childhood. if 1/2 of children die, the life expectancy is pretty much halved. while people do in general live longer today, it's not as dramatic a change as it appears.
#147 to #7 - anon (04/03/2013) [-]
Usually you don't count humans under the age of one into such statistics.
#151 to #147 - anon (04/03/2013) [-]
Problem is that they do in those statistics. Shakespeare was at least fifty when he died and no-one made a big fuss that he was 20 years above the average, since if you lived to twenty chances were you would live to fifty back then. It's the first twenty years or so that people usually died at.

""not sure if OC""

You're not sure if you created it or not? can't remember if you took the time to research this and put it together from scratch, or if you just found it somewhere else and posted it...? Do you have a Court Appointed Care worker? maybe ask them.....

TLDR: OC means ORIGINAL content. That means it originates from YOU. You are the You need to login to view this link you made it.
...the fact you are the first person to post it somewhere doesn't make it OC.

Hang on hang on. I don't think you're getting OP's point here.

The way I see it, OP watched a video on youtube, then made a comp of the video's central points. He's not sure if it's OC or not because he DID make the comp, but the ideas aren't his.

In interactional sciences we could say that OP is the 'animator' of this content, whereas the person who made the youtube video is the 'author'.

The rich are getting slightly poorer and the poor are in line waiting for their dole money
User avatar #89 - luidias (04/03/2013) [-]
life expectancies were that low because of the high infant mortality rate. discounting all the dead babies and toddlers, life expectancy in humans have always ranged around 50-70 years of age.

anyways, I'll stop taking the fun out of everything now.

the first part about life expectancy is how we explain the problem with the social security system. Back when social security was first put in, people wern't expected to live that long past 65 anyway. now just about everyone in america knows someone thats living well over the retirment age. Social security is draining the nations funds because more and more people are living longer and longer and its "immoral" to raise the retirement age. Now people that are plenty healthy enough to keep working are just sitting back and enjoying life because they are still healthy enough to and old enough not to have to work. Now i dont want to just screw people out of their social security, but something has to be done. eventually we are all going to be spending half our ******* lives in retirement, but there wont be any money left for them to give us. its a system doomed to die and drag alot down with it.

is just how i see things. Everyone is entitled to their own view on things of course.
#146 - seniorawesomesauce (04/03/2013) [-]
Sure, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting richer, it's just that the rich are getting richer at a expedentially faster rate.

You realize that in 1400 Europe the avg age was 30 because they averaged someone dieing at age 75 with some kid that died at 3 months 33 days.
User avatar #90 to #51 - lateday (04/03/2013) [-]
that would be average for only those two people you just mentioned...

Look, I'm as excited about the future as the next person, in fact maybe even more than the next person. I'm not going to quibble with most of this, it's great news how infant mortality is dropping and information technology is becoming more widely available.
It's just that last conclusion that I have a problem with.
Yes, even the poor of today are better than the poor of the industrial revolution, but in contemporary comparisons income inequality is up and social mobility is actually down. Not saying this to be a downer, just providing some caveats.
The past would find our present pretty awesome. Let's keep up the good work!
