Not sure if this counts against the whole "don't post C&H" thing. If it does, tell me and I'll delete it.

People are going to either agree, or hate me for this, but **** it.

I'm torn on gun control laws. On one hand, I hate guns with a passion. But, restricting them will only inhibit access to people who won't use them for bad, as criminals would still likely be able to acquire them through illegal means.

In my personal belief, the only way for it to not be an issue, is if guns simply didn't exist. They are, after all, one of the only things created with no purpose other than to kill.

Yes, let's UN-CREATE guns...

...oh wait, **that's impossible**.

Since that's impossible, let's just put our effort into facing reality:
> Bad people will always buy/rob/MAKE guns.
> So, let's try to reduce the negative aspects of the world that make people turn to destructive lives.

Boom. Done. No more debate.

Are you stupid, or joking? I never said we could "uncreate" guns. I only said that the best solution would be if they didn't exist.

Ideally, this world wouldn't even need guns. However, humans are incapable of understanding. We, as a species, will never be able to eliminate the qualities that lead us to distrust, hate, and harm. It just won't happen. As much as it saddens me, it's the truth. Because of this, All one can do is follow Ghandi's words, and "be the change you want to see in the world."

I could preach this to millions, but it wouldn't matter. We'll never fully eradicate the darkness of the human will. And that's the most depressing thing I've ever come to realize.

Feral and unwarranted Internet anger... speaking of 'The Darkness of Mankind' -____-

You are right on all counts. The point you've just gotten to is where the gun debate ends, and it makes me happy because i see more comment threads on more websites reaching this conclusion faster.

All that one can do is not 'sin' in order to prevent propagating the evil.

The only moral choice that people like us (well, me... maybe not you) are mulling over is whether it's okay to sin in the one particular circumstance where it might be 'acceptable' - to take another person's life because THEY spread evil.

...and think, think, think, think as i might, I have not yet been able to definitively ground myself on one side or the other of this quandary.

Oh, hush you -.-

When it comes to taking a life, I couldn't. For those who spread the evil that is so prevalent in society, I personally believe that unless they are capable of change, restrict their ability to spread their hate. Prison, preferably. (That is, provided that they've broken the law.) Because prison tends to make one-time **** ups into repeat offenders, we'd probably need to also modify who we lock up. But I digress. For even the worst crimes, using death as a solution only perpetuates the hatred.

I can see where you're coming from, but its' the same as wishing for natural disasters not to exist. It's impossible, and even if it could happen Man would just recreate them. It's really easy to make a firearm.

But the thing is everyone lost their **** when high capacity magazines were banned. They weren't taking their guns away, and as far as I could tell, you can still rebel without a military grade assault rifle, it just shows that the american society is so hellbent on being armed to the teeth at all times. It's more than the gun control now, it's everyone realizing how backward and childish the average american population is

Except you can't own a military grade assault rifle, and the magazine ban restricted magazines to 10 rounds which is 20 below standard capacity. Gun owners have compromised a lot on something the law clearly states should not be infringed, how about instead of making new laws, enforce the ones we have.

There's literally no argument you can make to telling me you need more than 10 rounds in a magazine.

It takes half a second to change a magazine if you practice for 15 minutes, limiting the magazine did **** all to limit the Columbine shooters who used only 10 round magazines.

For the simple matter that they disgust me. They have no use other than to cause death. Very few things in this world were created with no other intention than to kill, and I hate them all. I know people enjoy guns. That's fine, they can keep their beliefs.

We should get rid of guns and legalize the ownership and carrying of swords, however we should make it so that it is illegal to sell swords in stores, meaning that if you wish to carry a sword you must put in the effort of forging one yourself. It may not reduce actually crime but you can walk around town with the satisfaction of wearing a blade forged by your own hands on your hip (or back I suppose but that would make drawing it a bitch... Unless you made some kind of quick drawn sheath that only covers about a foot of the blade at the end and has a strap around the base so to draw all you have to do release the strap and pull)

You already can carry swords legally, they just can't pass a certain length. Sorry no ******* masamune but yes a practical sword can be carried.

I love this idea

Maybe it's just the idea of walking around with a weapon. I mean, I'd prefer being able to carry around whatever the hell you want.

You know how no one bats an eye at the guy with a rifle slung over his shoulder if it's an apocalypse. Imagine that mentality. Everyone would be a badass.

i request the origin, the birthplace, the inception, the fountainhead, the provenance, the antecedent, the begetter.

when i piss into the wind there is only silence and regret
i have not lived as an antique roman but as beast of the herd
for we are but the chaff forgotten, mere instruments to economies of scale
they walk among us as gods on earth abandoning the safe margins
how can we fear if the lose is nothing, how might they fair when the tower crumbles?

so what in reality is this based on? i mean what has happened to make you think schools are overreacting? i love that gun nuts have to make up this very fictional over-reaction in order to distract from the fact that their little toys that they just gotta have without the burden of proving to the government that they aren't crazy are the cause of thousands of deaths per year that we know can be prevented because every other first world country does it. point me to where this overreaction exists in reality or admit this is all trumped up ********.

I'd rather sword fighting, that way when you go to kill someone you really feel like you're killing another person instead of pointing and pressing a button, plus sword fighting is pretty badass overall
