You know. This is a good idea. I work for a coffee shop and bakery. I am going to see if I can get the managers and owners even to get behind this idea. It sounds like a great opportunity to give back tot he community. Thanks for the Idea!

Obama had a coffee shop once. If you ordered a coffee, he forced you at gunpoint to buy 5 and then he threw your coffee at a homeless guy.

just for the record, i know that this thing is actually going on in Bulgaria and Italy, it's called "the hanging coffee" (bad translation I'm guessing) but they are actually doing it as we speak and it's not just another idea that went to waste google it if you want

of course in 'murica people act like paupers just to exploit charity even if they are financially fine, but this could easily be up to the discretion of the establishment if they will really give out pending charities. still an awesome ideal in my opinion.

especially in italy, probably the workers know most of the homeless people in their vicinity, they don't move much from their favorite spot.

that's charity that is actually good. no telling what a homeless person spends your 83 cents on. just buy a random dude a cup of coffee. or better yet, for the people being haters about this idea, yah the douchecocks on welfare might take advantage. but its on the people proprieting the business to refuse the 'pending' coffees to people who are just ******* moochers. Or like me. We were on food stamps for a little while. Whatever we didn't use with our monthly allotment, we would go and buy food and donate it. that's what it's there for. if you don't use it, it just falls off, and you get re-upped the next month. Now that my wife and I are both back to work full time, we help out when we can.

TL:DR Don't hate, it's a wonderful idea! and it's just a cup of coffee.. it's not like they're getting a months' supply of food for free...

That's a great idea, but here in murica all the fat entitled people would break the system.

Yes, I live here and can say with 100% certainty that this will happen.

Faak, yeah! I would try this where I live, but I don't drink coffee, so they'd all have to be pending and I don't know if the people I buy the coffee from would catch on unless I tell them about it.

I'm fairly wealthy, being a lawyer myself. I feel like what they are doing is great, but a lawyer can usually afford to do more than that. Any day that I don't have to be up late working on cases or if I just need a break from it, I don't immediately turn to my video games and other things. I usually go out and buy a bunch of deli meat, coffee and bread, and go and make sandwiches for the homeless in my town. Usually 2 or 3 times a week you'll see me driving around in the wife's mini van picking up some homeless people and giving them a warm place to sit and a meal to enjoy. Even if it doesn't last long, if you can afford it, there is no reason you shouldn't be doing it. Human decency is really lost in this day of age. It's nice to hear some people are at least paying it forward for some coffee though. Even if they don't want to do more, at least these people are getting something.

Reminds me of something a little similar.

I went to a Dutch Bros. coffee shop in town the other day. When I was about to pay for my drink, the barista told me that it was free because the person who bought coffee before me filled out a punch card and left the free drink to me.

I'm going to do the same when my punch card fills out.
