I **** you not, those are some of the best laptops ever made. I got one 8 years ago, and I still use it.

inb4 Macs suck: They're expensive, but you're also paying for quality, which you most definitely get

I brought a refurbished MacBook for about £500 less than the retail price, by far the best laptop I have ever used, they are just more enjoyable than windows for the simple tasks. The multi-touch trackpad is certainly no substitute for a real mouse but much nicer than the trackpads of most laptops.

I'm thinking of selling it soon though as they have pretty high resell value I might even be able to make my money back even with eBay taking their cut. I'm keeping my eye out for a refurbished MacBook air now as I'd like something small. But hell, maybe I'll even get one of those Dell ultrabook things, similar size and build except they run windows.

I'd probably never run a Mac as my main OS since I like to do a lot of gaming and vid rendering/3d work and as such prefer to have a system with very good cooling, but as far as laptops go I personally prefer macs. My only real gripe with the MacBook is the lack of a delete key, which is ******* annoying if you do any programming.

Pic unrelated.

Pretty much every Asus laptop has a multi touch trackpad too.
Pinch zoom, two finger scrolling, etc... got it all.

I have to agree, 7-10 years ago they were quality built I'm currently using a 7 yr old one. Now however they're damn expensive and suck. Still can't use mine for anything but internet, music, and solitaire though.

They aren't made for quality, they're made for user friendliness. Any dumbass can learn how to use one, and what functions it has are very intuitive. But that comes at the cost of way too much functionality and customization. Basically, Macs are laptops with training wheels.

Eh, I disagree. Intuitiveness does not equal lack of functionality. Mac OS X is built off of the Unix kernel, so just like Linux, if you look hard enough, you will find what you need.

I have an 16 or 17 years old PC (Win95, **** yeah!) that still works like a boss. Now that's some quality!

And yeah, no disagreements there, as far as desktops go, PCs all the way. I'm on one right now. However, when it comes to brand-name laptops, from the over a dozen brands I've gone through, none have the reliability of Apples (except IBM Thinkpads). The difference, though, isn't just that it's still working - it's that it's still useful. I use my iBook regularly for homework.

That **** has to be soooo slow though. It doesn't matter if you have a Mac or a Windows based computer, back then the tech that went into that stuff was hardly anything compared to today's hardware and software. Gaddamn.

I was born in '94
