Sometimes when i see an argument between two people i thumb one down and don't thumb the other one up so it looks like one of them got annoyed and thumbed the other down.

I hate that so much, users who have no response so they just thumb everything you have down.

I should have expected this. I'm going to take this moment to the psychology of thumbs. Content thumbs express that you either enjoyed or did not enjoy the content, but comment thumbs express whether or not you agree with that comment. Comments that people disagree with are thumbed down, which is something that has always been annoying about this site. It allows users to express that they disagree with each other without ever having to give a reason why. If you disagree with me, that's fine, I expect people to sometimes, but tell me why you disagree with me. Thumbs are powerless, and when I see that I have negative thumbs on an opinionated post it doesn't bother me because I feel like they have some sort of value, it bothers me because it means that someone out there disagreed with me, and they either; a.) don't have a real reason, or b.) couldn't take the time out of there busy schedule to respond with words. Imagine if that happened in the real world. Imagine if there was a debate going on and one debater just said, "I don't like that" instead of defending his position.

or they're just making a joke in a way by thumbing down because they have no response to your comment/

I don't see how that's a joke, unless you're talking about my above comment, in which case yes I wasn't talking about that one. I mean the argumentative comments. I know why that one's getting thumbed down, irony.

yes, i meant the one on this content.

Then yes, I understand that. The second comment was a tangent, it had nothing to do with the first really, just something I wanted to say.

there was a guy who said he liked my content and subbed, so i said thanks, but just let him know i don't upload very often, and he got angry and was like "if that's how you're going to be, then never mind" and unsubscribed.

When all your content gets at least 300, you can never tell.
