Funny enough, cats don't have a fatal terminal velocity.

Cats dropped from just about any height will survive.

Unless they suffocate. Still, incredibly unlikely that they will be dropped from high enough for that to happen.

they kind of crouch when they land so if they fall from high enough their jaw smashes into the ground and that can definitely kill.

Fun fact, they do.

Between three and five stories they die. Between five and eight stories they break the **** out of their legs, but live (because they instinctively spread eagle at this height, which slows them down enough), over that they still die.

Fun fact: It's almost impossible for a cat to die from falling. Their light body weight, combined with their low terminal velocity, allows them to theoretically survive any fall.

If I remember my QI facts accurately, they reach their terminal velocity from about the 7th floor, and their terminal velocity... isn't terminal. So throwing them off the 7th+ floor is a survivable fall, but if a cat fell from the 4th floor it might die. Yay logic?

On another note: Did anyone else think that this content would be a cat with Jonny Depp's face 'shopped on to it or something?

Wat?

A 7th floor fall can still be lethal, but most likely not due to their acrobatic skills in the air. With a shorter fall however the cat might not have time to adjust so that it lands on his/her feet and the impact might then be a lot more painful. :)

I wasn't referring to their acrobatic skills, but rather the speed the cat would reach. Past a certain speed a fall is likely to be fatal due to the creature's bones not being able to withstand the force etc. However, this speed for a cat is higher than it's terminal velocity (max fall speed), which cats reach after about a 7 story fall, so cats can't reach their lethal terminal velocity. Obviously the acrobatic abilities of the cat matter too...! A fat housecat would most likely just die due to its excessive weight, for example.
