That's the moral of 90% of media in all of history.
User avatar #63 to #57 - rocksteady (03/23/2013) [-]
This is currently true, but I can tell you are not 40 or older. In the older generations it was very encouraged to only present yourself if you were smart not retarded. You know the saying "There are no stupid questions." Well back then there were many stupid questions and, "Children are to be seen not heard." It was believed that "hurting children's feelings" would toughen them up, so they can become a successful adult.

The sad thing is that this has found its way into college too, people get away with murder these days at my University when years ago the dean would have dropped the hammer on these adults.

Also history is repeating itself right now. In the mid to late 70's most city schools were required to teach a class called, "Your Okay, I'm Okay." This class was to make each individual student feel like they were Gods gift to the world and the most important person on the planet. It backfired when those kids became teens and started what is know today as the two largest gangs in America, The Cripts and The Bloods. If someone so much corrected one of these child they would be so outraged the would respond in physical violence, because someone " Dis'ed " them.

But I had a teacher who legitimately thought light years measured time. And punished me for insisting otherwise, even offering an explanation on how to work out how far a light year is. Forgive me but I had maybe 6-7 competent teachers in my whole life.

I had a teacher (biology, no less) who swore every day that Madagascar wasn't a part of Africa because "you couldn't see it from the coast". He maintained that Madagascar was technically its own continent.

I had a teacher tell me I was wrong when I mentioned Ben Franklin's experience with the kite and lightning. He kept saying Edison did it, even though he's the American History teacher, it hurt so bad.

For me, most of the teachers were competent, just by the time I got them previous students had killed their spirit.
User avatar #25 to #23 - hoffmeisterh (03/23/2013) [-]
ah... that sucks. I can think of a few that fell into that category but surprisingly few. Some just flat out refused to teach, others made countless simple yet crucial errors and then went ******* when you corrected them. They would go on about trying to make them look bad when I (and others) were more interested in making sure people were taught the right stuff.

First an anti-brony post and now a rage comic? It's incredible. Like traveling back in time only to see a Tyranosaurous taking a **** .
#62 to #12 - Rascal (03/23/2013) [-]
lol i posted that
#70 to #12 - Rascal (03/23/2013) [-]
Well ragecomics are an established form of communication.
we practically invented a language with merely crudely drawn faces
And it's also easier to make
Besides, it's the thought that counts.

First off, I'd like to thank you for the similar opinion, and then praise you for having it to a picture of a mildly confused Dr. Stein.
#17 to #12 - thethc (03/22/2013) [-]
I would much rather see a T-Rex take a **** than this. Especially since the reality is that all 3 are idiots.
User avatar #6 - kingofhazard (03/22/2013) [-]
There are alot of teachers who are ego sentric and refuse to admit they're wrong, not all but alot.
#13 to #6 - Rascal (03/22/2013) [-]
That's just about every teacher I've known.
#83 to #13 - Rascal (03/23/2013) [-]

Yeah I know it really bugs me when people are EGOCENTRIC.
#8 to #6 - Rascal (03/22/2013) [-]
Kind of like that teacher who taught you how to spell egocentric right?
User avatar #11 to #8 - kingofhazard (03/22/2013) [-]

My mom doesn't know what a continent is.
My mom thought the 2012 election was between Bush and Clinton.
Last month my mom asked me if Canada is a city or a state.
My mom doesn't think Germany is part of Europe (I assume she thinks Europe is a country, but I forgot to ask)

I think I can rightfully say my mom is ******* retarded.
User avatar #85 to #42 - thisusernameisalie (03/23/2013) [-]
You're mom may be going senile.

Or she's just ******* retarded.
User avatar #18 - ishalltroll (03/23/2013) [-]
If your kid is a ******* retard, then chances are you're a ******* retard too.
User avatar #24 to #18 - aldheim (03/23/2013) [-]
All kids are ******* retarded.
They just get a little less retarded each year until they reach the socially accepted stage of retardeness to be considered mature.

OP is correct.

Yes we all know that one friend, where their parents were two hurp durps while growing up; however, OP is right.

Or there's always where as a kid we think the top is true, but as we grow older we learn how true the bottom part is.

That's how I was, and now I find myself following the advice my grandparents gave me as a kid.
#71 to #58 - anaklusmos (03/23/2013) [-]
I happen to be that friend, but since my parents are imigrents from El Salvador and never completed the eigth grade (3rd world eighth grade) I feel like they should be excused.
User avatar #60 to #58 - sparkyoneonetwo (03/23/2013) [-]
OP is correct depending on the situation. Though I do agree for the most part this would be right.
User avatar #43 - siridontcare (03/23/2013) [-]
This rustles my jimmies so ******* hard right now. I have been ****** over by adults most of my childhood. I WISH they knew what they were doing half the time.
User avatar #47 to #43 - thespartanpony (03/23/2013) [-]
I feel you. My mom routinely beat the **** out of me when i was little just for her to blow off steam. Whenever i talk about it (for example, one time to a cop) they just assume that i'm one of the retarded kids who hate their parents for no reason.
User avatar #51 to #47 - siridontcare (03/23/2013) [-]
I am doing a play in theatre that mocks it by repeating the line "I am an adult, I know whats right"

I once corrected my math teacher in front of the class. She asked me to walk up to the board and explain. I did, and got the same answer as the textbook. A week later, she announced her retirement. Feel bad bro.
#74 to #67 - ftsfts (03/23/2013) [-]
Why? If she felt that she was no longer capable of teaching then more power to her for being able to make a decision with the best interest of the students in mind, and who knows maybe she took to doing something more relaxing?
User avatar #49 - Rileto (03/23/2013) [-]
I'm pretty sure every situation is different. I do know that their are a lot of spoiled little ***** on the internet though that think they are smarter than their parents for ridiculous reasons. There are also some ****** /racist/judgmental/ignorant/unadaptable parents out there.
