Faggotjunk is full of blind idiots who know nothing about Lil Wayne and hate him cause it's popular on the internet.

Truth is, in his prime, he was the dopest rapper out, and that's what matters when he's gone, people are gonna remember The Carter III going double platinum in 1 week. KRS-One even called him the greatest rapper alive. He's also the hardest working and most dedicated rapper, if you're looking for a clear minded opinion on anything, don't go on funnyjunk.

Oh boy, here we ******* go again.

Look, Lil Wayne was great in his prime. IN HIS PRIME. I say it and I mean it, because I thought he was pretty good back in his days too.
But he decided to become a sellout. LIKE EVERY RAPPER DOES EVENTUALLY.

Lil Wayne only got called the greatest rapper alive, because he himself, shoved that belief down everyone's throats, untill eventually it stuck.

He became more interested in just putting things out there, instead of putting out quality material. He became interested in just being relevant. And if you think about it, he has done a great job at staying relevant.
I mean, say what you want, but he's a clever business man and while music IS a subjective matter, Lil Wayne preys on the stupid masses that just don't know any better. And he almost openly mock the people who buy his music.

And who cares if something goes platinum in a week? That's not what makes an album memorable.
High album sales doesn't necessarily make it a good album.

But like alot of things, music is a matter of opinion. And everyone has different opinions on what good music is. So who are we to judge them? Just let them be.

I rarely ever listen to his new commercial stuff, and I know he's a genius at business, that guy really can sell anything he wants. But I don't support him by means of buying his stuff, I don't have any Lil Wayne merch or CD's, I only have illegally downloaded music. I believe that if he concentrated and really wanted to, he can show his potential. But he's far, SO far from being the worst rapper/muscician now or ever.

Just playing devil's advocate, but thinking someone is a good performer is different from thinking that someone is a good musician.

i.e. I'm not the biggest fan of Psy's music, but as a half-Korean, I've been to his concert and I gotta give credit where credit is due, he knows how to get a crowd going.

I used to hate him, did I really ever listen to him? No. Did I care? No. I hated him cause funnyjunk hated him, then I heard "Mirror" and commented with the link to it and saying, "Probably the only serious Lil Wayne song" then another guy replied and told me about how much he respected Wayne and listed a lot of his serious songs, instead of insulting him or thumbing him down, I listened to them, and now I love listening to Lil Wayne (not much of his stuff after 2008), there's nothing wrong with my music taste, I love Tool, zepplin, Nirvana, RATM, etc..

I didn't say that. There's very little rap that I like and those ****** style raps are definitely not my style. One of the links you posted down below. I couldn't hear any rhyming what so ever.. I really don't like rap without rhyming to set a cool rhythm. Speed-talking isn't music in my ears.

Hip Hop>hip hop>rap=pop

Now Lil Wayne makes commercial rap songs that stisfy some pop audiences, when Lil Wayne started, and for most of his career, he made Hip Hop songs, and they were good, even KRS-One praised him.

Hip hop is rap, hip hop is not pop, rap is not pop. Rap is NOT popular. What the heck is the difference between Hip Hop and hip hop? Is that some self-made definition of the music genre or what? Pretty sure there's only one term.

We're talking about nowadays, not when you thought he was good. I don't even one what a KRS-One is.

I don't think he's as utterly godawful as a lot of people say, but I do think he's come to embody a whole lot of what's wrong with the state of rap. He's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is - for a man who has openly called himself "the greatest alive", he resorts to corny, pseudo-profound punchlines way too often for comfort - and the more popular he's gotten, the more he's catered directly to all of the wannabe-gangsta suburban kids, who have no business acting hard at all. I will admit, though, that he has far more raw talent as a rapper than the likes of Soulja Boy, Brick Squad, and White Girl Mob.

Agreed, he's very commercial now, and has mostly weak songs, and he's not the greatest alive. (even if KRS-One said he is) I really like his old stuff, and try to avoid his new ****, Weezy Baby is far different from Tunechi, and yes I can list a bunch of rappers way worse than him.
