Takes me back fondly to this part. I remember thinking when reading the book that he seemed like a bit of a Ralph Wiggum at first. But then you come to realize that they didn't put the boy in Gryffindor for nothing.

But Harry was willing to allow himself to be killed so Voldemort could be defeated. Claiming he was thinking of no one but Ron and Hermione is exceptionally, unbelievably retarded. He was willing to DIE for the sake of, not just Hogwarts, not just the Wizarding World, but for the sake of the entire planet.

Not that I'm diminishing at ALL Neville's role in the story, but the person who made this obviously didn't pay very good attention to the story at all.

i'm sure you'd be ok with dying for such an epic cause too if you had a magic stone that would revive you 5 minutes later in your pants pocket.
User avatar #215 to #181 - hanabro (03/21/2013) [-]
The Resurrection Stone does not give you the power to come back from the dead. It could bring back shades, but you'd have to be alive to do it anyway. Also, he didn't have it when he entered the forest anyway.

The only reason Harry could defeat Voldemort and was the chosen one was because Voldemort Listened to a prophecy that only came true because Voldemort believed it.
If Voldemort would have ignored the prophecy then he would have ruled the world and Harry wouldn't have the power to defeat him.
#61 to #31 - vaginismus (03/21/2013) [-]
Or so you think. Don't forget that the first part of the prophecy had already happened when Voldemort heard it. It might've as well fulfilled some other way. Voldemort also never heard the rest of the prophecy - is it fate? If he had heard the whole prophecy, I don't think he would've went after anyone. Though he was insane, so go and figure.

But I think it's true that Voldemort kind of chose Harry as his number one enemy over Neville - perhaps because of their similar parentage.
User avatar #65 to #61 - natedizzie (03/21/2013) [-]
Well Idk why Voldy chose Harry but him attacking Harry is the reason for his downfall thats all I'm saying
User avatar #125 to #65 - lazyboy (03/21/2013) [-]
one of the reasons he chose harry is cuz he wanted to finish off the job that he couldnt when harry was a baby

Well, in Norwegian it's translated to "langballe". If you translate this to English again it would be something like "long balls".

I really dont get translators ..
User avatar #12 to #8 - imofcnotharveydent (03/20/2013) [-]
well they also ****** with most of the characters like dumbledor = humlesnurr which then translated back would be bee twist or wasp twist
User avatar #55 to #12 - kievaughnb (03/21/2013) [-]
Dumbledor is an old name for bumblebees in English, so at least we know where the 'bee' part came from.

I just love how a character as seemingly insignificant as Neville ends up becoming probably one of the biggest heroes of the series.

It's kind of like Frodo and Sam. Frodo would have failed if not for Sam, yer Frodo gets all of the fame and fortune.
User avatar #103 to #23 - hhhghhg (03/21/2013) [-]
but Sam got to strike up relations with Gondor and the Shire, was the Mayor of the Shire for at least 10 years, and went and established one of the most prosperous and well known Hobbit families of the 4th age. His daughter was a handmaiden of Arwen, and his family become the Wardens of the Red book, and the chief scribes of it, which helped preserve the knowledge of Middle Earth after the days of the elven lore-masters. He also ends up going to the havens in his old age to rejoin Frodo, Bilbo, and Gandalf.

(if any of this is wrong im sorry for sounding dumb)

JK Rowling needs to step her **** up and make a prequel to the Harry Potter series or something. I dont think a sequel would work . Either way tho, I'd by the **** outta any book thats somewhat related. DOES ANYONE HAVE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS POSSIBILITY??
#136 to #131 - joelskee (03/21/2013) [-]
What I think would be cool, would be if she re wrote the entire series, but from Ron or Hermiones perspective, or from another Gryfindors that doesnt have all that crazy **** going on.
User avatar #214 to #136 - lazyboy (03/21/2013) [-]
i dont think JK Rowling doing that is realistic, but I like the idea. Maybe not from a main character like ron or hermione, but like another character that has an interesting background.
User avatar #187 to #131 - vortexrain (03/21/2013) [-]
She's making an encyclopedia that contains a lot of information that isn't in the series. One thing that will be in it is how a horcrux is made.
User avatar #135 to #131 - dogwars (03/21/2013) [-]
Nope. She has three other books that are related to the series and one novel that she released after the fact (I think it's hilarious that the name of the character that dies in the beginning is Barry). She has talked about the slight possibility of a sequel centered around one of Harry's kids, but that wouldn't be for a long time.

Also, she has an 800-odd word short story about James and Sirius that she did for a charity event.

She has Casual Vacancy as her Novel with a dead Barry (which is actually quite good), and the three book's names escape me, but they're Cimarillion-esque in that they just provide extra information about the Wizarding world.

Why do people keep trying to make Harry look like Frodo and Neville like Sam?

Harry does YEARS of work to get the platform built for the student body to even be able to fight. Yeah, some of the stuff done was out of chance, but you can't honestly tell me those efforts aren't the reason Neville is able to even have a fighting chance.

I'm not trying to discredit Neville's efforts at all; Neville lost a lot in his life just as well, such as him being constantly abused throughout his school career as well as losing his parents in the same manner that Harry did (before anyone pushes down that "omg yis dats proof dat neville is da chosen one", J.K. stated she thought about making Neville that, but ultimately stated that Harry was the chosen one overall).

But **** people trying to make Neville out to be some kind of Sam because some ************* post told them so.
#132 to #82 - therobsorensen (03/21/2013) [-]
Couldn't agree more. These posts are all so stupid. Neville could have single handedly killed every single death eater and it wouldn't have mattered at all had Harry not killed Voldemort.

Honestly I think all these posts started to come about because the actor who plays Neville became good looking, and so people are looking for ways to glorify him.
