Pansexual is attraction to person's personality.

Pansexual is being an emo/hipster that've decided that they should be pansexual after having read about it on tumblr.

Check your privilege, you white, cis-gendered, male scum

(Before any of you flip a bitch, this was a joke. The anon name says "White People", which a feminist would Immediately assume is an asshole based upon the colour of his skin (which of course is not racism). I know some of you would be smart enough to get the joke on its own, but I have to explain it to those who aren't so I don't receive a bunch of hate replies. Have a nice day)

Pansexuality is sexual attraction to your partner regardless of your partners gender or gender identification

Pansexual is a person who will ignore genders because they prefer the personality over the person. If a true pansexual was on a dating site and they were chatting with someone they though was hot physically in the photo but they turned out to look entirely different, would still be happy if they liked their personality.

The reason for confusion of what this means is because a pansexual WOULD ignore gender so people think it means that they like all genders, but that is not true. If that was the case no one would be pansexual because everyone has a preference.

The term "bisexual" needs to be updated because it means you are interested in 2 or more genders. The reason it is "bisexual" is because "bi" means 2, and when the term came around there were only 2 accepted genders. So if someone is sexually attracted to 2 or more genders they are still bisexual, but if they prefer a personality over physical appearance, they are pansexual.

Disregard this all you want, but by definition that is a pansexual.

No it's not. That's like saying you can be Asexual and KINDA like sex, but you can't. An Asexual person is someone who doesn't feel sexual attraction period, if you even feel it a little, you're not Asexual, you just have a very low libido

A Pansexual person will not ignore genders, they still watch porn, they still have certain fetishes that have relation to gender, they simply don't care

What the hell are you talking about? There ARE only two genders, a boy and a girl (I swear, if you take those people who consider themselves eagle-wolves or whatever the **** they think they are seriously and think of them as their own gender I'm going to hunt you down and molest you). It does NOT need to be updated for this reason, there is only two sets of genitalia someone can have, sometimes they can even have both, but they still can only HAVE the two, there is no third. Bisexuality means attraction to BOTH.

And no, liking personality over appearance does not make you Pansexual, that just means you're not shallow; Pansexual people simply don't care what gender you are because they base sexual attraction off of personality. Or rather, a clearer definition would be "Someone who is sexually attracted to a personality they enjoy"

"Not limited or inhibited in sexual choice with regard to gender or activity." No, THAT'S the definition of Pansexual. (I apologize to any other Pansexual people here whom I may have offended, I'm just speaking from my own experience)

As a biromantic asexual, your definition of asexuality is wrong. I WOULD have sex but only if I was in love with someone.

I am referring to herms, intersex, etc. on the "more than one gender" thing.
It is literally impossible to be gender blind, unless you are out having flings with everyone of ever orientation you will always have a preference. You can CLAIM to not care, but even most bisexuals wouldn't care if their partner was trans or anything else.
User avatar #463 to #358 - captainfuckitall (03/19/2013) [-]
And speaking as a Pansexual, YOU'RE wrong about your last definition. So I suppose we're even, aren't we? (By the way, Bi-romantic only means you could have romantic feelings for both sexes, I.E. kissing, cuddling. If you want to have sex at all, or feel some type of attraction to the point of wanting to have sex, you're not Asexual, sorry to break it to you, you're not special, you just have a very low libido)

I'm sure you were, but there's still no more than two genders. Just because a woman has a penis or no genitalia doesn't mean they're a third gender.

I never claimed Pansexuals were gender blind or that they didn't have a preference, I just said they don't care, which they don't, that's the god-damn definition. (By the way, what you say about how it's impossible to not care is like saying it's impossible for someone to be impartial to music, or food, or outdoor activities. Which isn't true). And you can speak for most Bisexuals because you're 'Asexual'? I know plenty of Bisexuals who are grossed out by that sort of thing, and even have a close transgender friend that had worse experiences with Bisexuals and gays than he's had with straight people
User avatar #476 to #463 - sheepysquirrel (03/19/2013) [-]
You still do not understand asexuality, an asexual has no drive for sex, I do not. I would have sex for the pleasure of my partner alone but personally I am grossed out by it and find it pointless.

You being pansexual does not speak for all pansexuals and you are obviously the typical "I'm better than bi I love everyone" type of "pansexual". No, pansexuals do not love all, maybe in a social sense but not in a romantic/sexual sense. I guarantee there is a type of person you would not go for (MtF, FtM type thing) as all people have a personal preference.

By your own definition of gender you are bisexual.
User avatar #533 to #476 - captainfuckitall (03/19/2013) [-]
Nor do you understand Pansexuality, so we're STILL in the same boat. (And unlikely. If you're sexually attracted enough to something to get it up in the first place, you're probably either very repressed or again, have a very low libido. Don't blame me for thinking you're not part of the 1% general population)

And you being Asexual doesn't speak for Pansexuals either, now does it (or Bisexuals for that matter)? And you obviously think you're of a higher caste and wiser than those around you, because you're judging me for the EXACT, LITERAL EXACT thing you're doing, speaking for a sexuality that isn't my own, oh the god damn irony. I never said they did, holy **** , do you just read half my comments and stop? I said they just DON'T CARE, which they don't, as it's part of the definition, which is made BY Pansexuals! You seem to be confusing the definition for Pansexual with Bisexual (although even then, Bisexuals have their own personal preference to things. They feel attraction to both genitalia, but they still prefer a certain look and type of people. The same way Pansexuals do, although Pansexuals don't care about the genetalia you have, their focus is more on things you can't exactly motorboat).

By Oxfords definition of gender, I'm Pansexual; but their definition, you're also wrong
User avatar #565 to #533 - sheepysquirrel (03/19/2013) [-]
I don't believe you are really pansexual, you don't believe I am asexual. Let's have fun with that.
User avatar #584 to #565 - captainfuckitall (03/19/2013) [-]
Belief has nothing to do with it. Neither of us can speak for the others sexuality. You know you're not interested in sex, you can be Asexual all you want; I know I'm not attracted to cocks but wouldn't care if my love interest happened to be a guy, I can be Pansexual all I want. How about we both stop being pretentious asshats, thinking we're better than eachother, and just agree that sexuality is such a broad subject that neither of us can say a single solid thing about it
User avatar #594 to #584 - sheepysquirrel (03/19/2013) [-]
..yes...I will agree with that.
#81 to #17 - anon (03/19/2013) [-]
So basically bisexual
User avatar #97 to #81 - captainfuckitall (03/19/2013) [-]
No. Allow me to explain; Bisexual is attraction to BOTH genitalia, as in, you find penises and vaginas sexy. Pansexuality is where you're attracted to them REGARDLESS of genitalia, so you don't care if they have penises or vaginas as long as you like them

Imagine your perfect woman, everything that suits you in every way, shape, or form. Now, make her a man. For a Bisexual person, they MAY still find them sexually attractive and want to be with them, although for different reasons. For a Pansexual person, it wouldn't matter and they would still love them

In Laymans terms: Bisexuality is finding both genitalia sexy, while Pansexuality is just not giving a ****

I've once had a conversation with a girl claimed to be a pansexual. She said, and I quote: "Pansexuals pretty much **** everything with a pulse."
Now, regardless if that were true, best explanation ever.

I think she was just trying to get attention. We just had a whole "Bisexuality" craze at my school where nearly every emo and female thought they were bisexual (But would never sleep with a member of the same sex "Cause that's gross")
