The "Hardcore" gigs my friends go to, consists of tall kids kicking and punching smaller people in the face and not caring. Because it's the cool thing to do.
When i told them about my experience at gigs (not smashing each other in the face. helping each other if somebody is down, crowd surfing etc.) he told me thats what the pussies do apparently.

everybody should be handed a 'rules of moshing' on entry to gigs. too many people see it as an excuse to hit someone, when it's meant to be just a collective expression of energy and adrenaline. I would include always helping fallen people up and anyone who gets dragged in who doesn't want to be in there, instead of bullying them, help them get the **** out, cos moshing isn't for everyone
User avatar #8 - leucrerhedix (03/18/2013) [-]
I agree with this wholeheartedly. Every pit i go into now is just kids thrashing and punching and clawing.

I'm a big guy, I love moshing, I hate getting a backhand to the face by the 120 pound kid who thinks flailing like a faggot is moshing.

There is a reason at every concert I go to we all team up on every kid who does this and send them to the hospital.

Sorry, apparently I feel passionate about this.... But maybe Im just getting old.
#12 to #8 - ironfistballcrush (03/18/2013) [-]
In my country we have pogo and mosh. Just like in most european countries. Calling actual pogo "moshing" is an american stupid idea. What you call "mosh" is actually just pogo, maybe with few elements of violent dance. Flailing is part of violent dance, which is named like that for a reason.

Also moshing is better than pogo. I prefer being punched in the face than being rubbed all over by sweaty, long-haired metalhead. And pushing is for pussies. Even metalheads know that here.

"Mosh to nie pogo, kurwa!"

But I agree with one thing. Faggots that are punching and kicking the crowd around the pit are faggots and they deserve to be kicked.

Also kids that are just flailing and thinking that it is violent dancing are faggots. Violent dancing has a lot from acrobatics as you can see here: /watch?v=9flORcF6He8.
User avatar #20 to #16 - flamdrango (03/18/2013) [-]
there used to be an etiquette in pits, like unwritten laws where you might get a few bruises but you still had a bodacious time, lately it's been getting worse and worse...
#123 to #20 - ironfistballcrush (03/18/2013) [-]
Thankfully not in my city. People still care for others, fallen are being helped with getting up and **** . The only problem on our gigs are metalheads who are coming from time to time and destroying our mosh. It's not nice when you're doing synchro wyndmills or 540 kicks with friend and someone pushes you in mid-air, because pushing is the only thing he knows in, let's call it' "alternative dancing."
#93 to #8 - anon (03/18/2013) [-]
Nah you're right. Metal heads used to have a rep for being caring in mosh pits (As caring as you can be anyway) You'd always be picked up etc, but now these little OP's listen to screamo and think they're the **** , and eventually you get preteens throwing haymakers at fellow fans. Grinds my gears.
User avatar #125 to #8 - thundagawd (03/18/2013) [-]
I completely agree with you. I took a kick to the nuts from one of these faggots at a Kataklysm concert a year ago. He'd been pissing everyone off the entire show (Went as far as to backhand a chick standing on the side because he was flailing around like a douche and ended up stumbling into the crowd). Eventually people got tired of his **** , so two massive dudes each grabbed an arm, stood as far apart as they could, and held him right in the center of the pit during the Wall Of Death. Sack of **** went straight to the hospital with two broken arms. Made my ******* night.
#9 to #8 - anon (03/18/2013) [-]
I agree with you completely. Last year I was at a battle of the bands that my friend's band was playing in, and this dumb little **** ran into me about 3-4 times. The last time he hit me, I grabbed him by the collar, pick him up, shoved him back into the pit, and proceeded to mind my own business. Unfortunately, the bouncer saw me do it, and be 2 times the guys size, he kicked me out immediately. It pisses me off that the bouncer promoted the hardcore fag stomp/kick/flail retard attitude, instead of thanking me for putting the little ****** in his place.

Bare with me but I've lost my metal obsession. Do i still love it? **** yea, but I just got bored of being obsessed with it. I could kinda tell i was giving everyone a creepy vibe. I still listen to it all the time, but now I listen to psychedelic, prog rock, classic rock, jazz, funk, ska, indie rock, etc. I even play with a different band now because i got bored. Although I wouldn't mind a metal head friend with the same taste as me. The non fag metals i know mainly listen to death metal. I was always a thrasher

I bet with you that (in my case, just in my case man) if you say Black Sabbath´s Black Sabbath is the darkest and doomiest metal song ever written in metal history, people will laugh at me and come with Slayer. Don´t get me wrong, I really like Slayer, but they mistake "heavy" with "dark atmosphere"
#183 to #181 - thatmetalguy (03/19/2013) [-]
God I love Black Sabbath the song. It's really a work of genius. Also, be prepared to hate me, I never really liked Sabbath that much. I have tons of respect for them, but sometimes they never gave me that adrenaline rush I get from thrash. I like them, don't get me wrong, I just didn't go ******** crazy over them like other metalheads. Tbh, Ozzy's voice gets on my nerves after awhile
#197 to #183 - lordumpalumpa (03/19/2013) [-]
Duuuude, don´t apologize. Just because I said something about Black Sabbath doesn´t have to mean I love them, I do though haha. Besides, there is/was also Black Sabbath/Heaven and Hell (Black Sabbath with Dio, Ozzy didn´t want people to associate Dio with Black Sabbath for some kind of reason, dude was jelly maybe). I don´t know man, but if you want you can check out "Rock ´n Roll" Angel by Heaven and Hell, you may get your adrenaline rush @ 3:50 of the song where the solo starts, or even the full "The Devil You Know"-album.

Could you recommend some Thrash- Bands beside the Big 4, Annihilator, Jetsom Flotsam, Angel Witch and such?
User avatar #208 to #197 - thatmetalguy (03/19/2013) [-]
My adrenaline comes from stuff like Pink Floyd when they have more feeling than speed. My music taste has evolved so much lately. Also,"and such" doesn't tell me a whole lot. But I'll rattle off thrash bands I know currently. Overkill, Death Angel, Testament, Bonded By Blood, Exodus, Death (more of death metal but still kinda thrashy), Diamond Head isn't really thrashy, more of NWOBHM but they're still good.
#219 to #208 - lordumpalumpa (03/19/2013) [-]

Dio Sabbath was 10 times better than Ozzy Sabbath by far.
#200 to #191 - lordumpalumpa (03/19/2013) [-]
Well, you can´t deny that "Heaven and Hell" was Sabbath´s best album in terms of sales. About it´s musical style it was very different from Ozzy´s Sabbath, there is no doubt about it. Wether you like Ozzy´s or Dio´s Sabbath is for every individual is his/her choice. Personally I really like both. Ozzy has a voice which really matched Iommi´s dark riffs and Dio had a very opera-style voice which matched perfect with Iommis later riffs which were doomy as well but not as doomy as Ozzy´s songs (if we not include Heaven and Hell´s "The Devil You Know" album of 2006; most heavy album I have ever heard of Dio and late Sabbath")
User avatar #203 to #200 - ViperGaara (03/19/2013) [-]
I agree and whilst I do like Ozzy Sabbath I grew up with Dio so he'll always be better in my mind although I'm usually into the heavier stuff.
I'm going to see Ozzy Sabbath next month. Pretty keen

To put it simply, just move to the music, that's what the bands want to see and that's what the point of a mosh is. It doesn't matter if you "dance" or shove people around, the goal is to become the music you're hearing.

The problem is with these so called metalheads just wanting to show off, compete and look tough by throwing elbows, kicks and fists at everyone WANTING to hurt someone. The reason people hate hardcore "dancing" or whatever it's called now is because too many of the douchebags that do it think they are "hardcore" by busting peoples faces open and dropkicking the guy across the room.

Metal may be an angry and dark form of music, but it's goal and purpose is to release those feelings in a positive manner. That's why it's great to see people headbanging, shoving and running in circles all over the place...and when someone gets hurt or knocked down, everyone around stops, picks them up, shakes hands and continues on...it releases all that energy and frustration while still maintaining a sense of respect and family with all those involved.

TL;DR? Have fun, show respect and don't be a douchebag.
