this logically could have happen because the lagoon is an underwater lake when fresh water meets saltwater, and since he was a saltwater fish he couldn't survive in freshwater. bubbly buddy is a murderer

(different anon) sometimes the ocean has currents of denser saltier water. like those underwater rivers. That could be an alternate explanation as fish can only tolerate certain levels of salinity
