laser printer cost like 8 times cheaper to print a page compare to inkjet, its a shame an institution hasn't upgraded to laser printers.

Because none of that cost goes towards paying for your teachers/tutors/lecturers/Lab operators/Demonstrators, equipment, school facilities, land, building costs, power or internet connection.

Of course not.
It's all about the printing.

Okay, so the cost of printing is 4000 tacos, but ONE student pays around 40,000 tacos.
40,000 tacos x 5,200 students = 208000000 tacos
Subtract the cost of printing, which is 4000 tacos, and you get 207996000 tacos
I think that 4000 tacos out of 207996000 would not make a massive difference.

Why would they make a sign discouraging printing just because it costs them a bit of money..? Don't students often need to print their typed up work in order to pass their courses?

Isn't it just better to buy a whole new printer instead of ink now?

This is why I own a laser printer, they're so much cheaper. Maybe colleges should just buy one instead of bitching about the price of operating their printers.

With an honor's scholarship I pay nothing. It pays to be good at cheating smart.

University students in Britain only used to have to pay around £3,000 a year for tuition, totaling up to about £9,000. That rose recently to £9,000 a year (£27,000 total), my only guess is because the current government party are selfish and can't find any other way of getting that money other than charging poor students for it. If I was at uni and saw this poster I would think, how fucking dare they say I should think before I ink. What else am I paying for.

Thing is, the person chooses to go to that college, so they're agreeing to pay whatever they want them to pay. They don't really have a case here.
#55 to #51 - justtocomment (03/17/2013) [-]
That's all fine and dandy, but it doesn't change the fact that the university is bitching about having to spend a fraction of single student's tuition for printing supplies.

That's obscenely stupid beyond any comprehensible measure. How do you get into college thinking that 100% of a school's budget goes to ink in a single printer?
