Too bad his lazers aren't hot, they're concussive.

Actually, a powerful enough blunt force could cut something as frail as a cat in half. It'd be like getting run over by a truck.
User avatar #38 to #37 - triggathepirate (03/16/2013) [-]
Aww **** , gotta make a ***** pull his geek out.
Or punch a cat in half as you will. The more you focus the beam the more concentrated it gets. It's able to puncture through a steel coin too so it matters how you hit it.

They have been known to create heat because of the constant kinetic energy.

It's only cause he's holding his power back so it is only concussive. The beams when at full power do have heat power.

What I never understood is how was cyclops born? Because he can't have had his special glasses on then. Must have been a right mess.
#2 to #1 - anon (03/15/2013) [-]
Rogue's powers didn't show up until she was like 16, probably the same kind of thing.
User avatar #3 to #2 - tainted (03/15/2013) [-]
Interesting, but still, imagine when it suddenly did develop. There you are, first time having sex, you go to blow your load and... you blow her head off. Could be embarrassing.

Most mutant's powers didn't become apparent or develop until puberty
Wolverine was 8-ish
Rogue was 16-ish
Xavier was 9-ish
Magneto was a teenager

so one day cyclops was just chilling in his house, THEN LASER BEAMS SHOT THE **** OUT OF HIS EYES AND HE KILLED EVERYONE, then he put on sunglasses
User avatar #19 to #18 - twinnedorphan (03/16/2013) [-]
well, it's been a while, but if memory serves me right. Scott was running away from an orphanage and ran into construction site when his powers revealed themselfs and as you might guess, **** was chaotic and all that... lucky him, Xarles was around and save the day.
#24 to #19 - anon (03/16/2013) [-]
Wait... can Cyclops hurt himself? Like, cut his own arm?
User avatar #25 to #24 - twinnedorphan (03/16/2013) [-]
I don't see why not. I'm sorry, but I don't know much about cyclops(I kinda hate him)
User avatar #26 to #25 - chiktikkavaspaus (03/16/2013) [-]
We all have out opinions.

Cyclops is my second favorite mutant.....
#29 to #26 - twinnedorphan (03/16/2013) [-]
Well to be completely fair, It's the Cyclops they in the movies the reason I hate him, thus my lack of iniciative to look more into the character, So I can't really say I hate him since I know so little about him.

On a side note.
Nightcrawler for best mutant!
#46 to #29 - chiktikkavaspaus (03/16/2013) [-]

1. Nightcrawler
2. Cyclops
3. Deadpool (Technically not a mutant, but I don't care).

Yeah, the movie cyclops isn't very good. They went with the actor that looked the part. It probably would have been better if they didn't write his character to be an asshole.

The true Cyclops is a badass leader. Think more of Captain America in the avengers movie, but slightly different.
User avatar #47 to #46 - twinnedorphan (03/16/2013) [-]
man... Now I have this urge to look more into Cyclops, but no idea where to start(like usual).
any suggestions?
User avatar #54 to #47 - chiktikkavaspaus (03/16/2013) [-]
I haven't read X-men comics in a while. But I suppose you could start with X-men Origins: Cyclops. It kinda gives you an insight to Cyclops' origin, as the name implies.

X-men Forever is a great series. Cyclops is awesome in that universe, and nightcrawler is also pretty badass in those comics.
#27 to #25 - anon (03/16/2013) [-]
Oh, my next question was, how come his eyelids don't burn?
User avatar #30 to #27 - twinnedorphan (03/16/2013) [-]
No idea...
Did you know Cyclops has blue eyes? lol
User avatar #64 to #24 - Crusader (03/16/2013) [-]
I think it was something closer to what happened to Daredevil, where there was an accident, but instead of being mutated by chemicals, Cyclops' powers simply burst into his conscious mind and saved him.
His eyelids don't burn for 2 reasons.
His DNA is in the Eyelids and the DNA cancels eachother out.
His sight isn't burning as much as it is immense force pushing forward, less of a beam of energy and more of a crushing beam. The reason you see certain comics have smoke after he uses his powers is that there is immense amounts of Friction and when you compress something, it heats up.

Ellie. although Ethel`s stori is exceptional... last week I bought a brand new Toyota after bringing in $7503 this past five weeks and even more than 10/k this past munth. it's definitly the easiest-job I've ever done. I actually started 8-months ago and almost immediately began to bring in at least $87 p/h. I work through this website,,,, Fly38.COM
User avatar #63 - lorddotcom (03/16/2013) [-]
Not to be that guy, but that's not how his powers work. He doesn't fire a laser from his eyes, but rather a focused concussive blast that doesn't slice or melt anything, but rather pushes, kind like Iron Man's repulsors.
#61 - kanali ONLINE (03/16/2013) [-]
Cyclops sucks? Say that to his face.
#49 - anon (03/16/2013) [-]
and on top of that he could controle them when he was young in the commic book he is a lil kid he gets into a big car crash and it ****** him up and he cant comtrole it no more after that

If you're reading the current X-Men comics...yes, yes Cyclops does really suck.
User avatar #20 - ghostofwisebox (03/16/2013) [-]
OK so I'm no comic expert but wouldn't cyclops's eye lids just get penetrated when he closes his eyes by his laser? I mean it can cut human flesh right? Is there an explanation or something?
User avatar #28 to #20 - vanillabeartwo (03/16/2013) [-]
His brother Havok isn't affected by his blasts because he has similar powers so I'm assuming it wouldn't work on him either.
User avatar #36 to #20 - spearpwi (03/16/2013) [-]
He projects a psyonic field that protects him against the concussive blast of his laser.
User avatar #41 to #20 - FuckyouMrCrowley (03/16/2013) [-]
maybe he just doesn't have any eyelids
User avatar #62 to #20 - RisenLichen (03/16/2013) [-]
I thought he always kept his eyes open, but because he has his sunglasses on the beams bounce off the glasses and back into his eyes continuosly. Then again I don't read the comics either, that was just something I heard
User avatar #34 to #20 - warzon ONLINE (03/16/2013) [-]
Its simple:No 'super' genetic can actively kill their user.
Say there was a man that uses fire and hes always on fire.
He doesnt burn to death correct?
Or a man completely frozen yet still uses his frosty powers for justice/evil/fun.
So we can draw that the mutations themselfs ensure protection against what they are useing.
User avatar #22 to #20 - gardenmanly (03/16/2013) [-]
I would guess that his mutation includes some form of laser protection on the inside of his eye lids, so that the mutation does not harm himself
User avatar #15 - masdercheef (03/16/2013) [-]
But if the laser was powerful enough (and presumably hot enough) to cut right through the cat like that, wouldn't it sort of just instantly cauterize the wound, like when people in Star Wars get cut with lightsabers?
User avatar #16 to #15 - masdercheef (03/16/2013) [-]
(and thus not result in a pool of blood, I meant to say)
User avatar #48 to #15 - schneidend (03/16/2013) [-]
Lightsabers don't magically cauterize the entire wound in all instances, first of all. Second, Cycolps' power isn't a laser. It's a beam of concussive force. Basically, he had it so concentrated that it simply cut through the cat like a knife.
User avatar #69 to #48 - masdercheef (03/16/2013) [-]
Oh, I didn't know that about Cyclops.
