Your dad is an asshole for not being proud of you even if you have no friends....

This is not a question of pride, it is merely a question of a parent wanting the best for his child. He wants his child to be as happy as can be. The fact that his child isn't happy makes it seem as if the parent has failed.

Basing all this on personal experience but I think that it's quite accurate.

Oh yeah. If it actually would have made my parents HAPPY that I got home at 4 in the morning, ********* with lipstick on my collar when I lived with them...

Also, meeting friendly people to have a good time with is easy even for an antisocial dour bugger like myself. Made a couple of friends when I joined a pistol shooting club a couple of weeks ago. Plus, shooting is super fun in itself.

Consider the following: Instead of going to a parking lot and sleeping, perhaps try making some friends. Look up some videos on how to if you need. Never hurts to try :)

Quite the feel though.

There is such a thing as extreme introversion which has nothing to do with fear of people or fear of making friends, although that may not be the case here.

The real feel for me is for the father. He can't *make* his son get friends but he just loves that kid so damn much. I really hope that if this was legit that guy is ok.

I grew up without many friends too, because the only things kids in my town did were drink, smoke, and get arrested. I was a fat kid, my dad was an alcoholic, and my brother was a chain smoker, so i stayed away from that

This situation is the kids fault, are you telling me, he has NOTHING in his life that outs him around people? No school, no work, etc? Because thats the only way this may be considered slightly not his fault. ******* talk to people.

maybe he has an extreme social anxiety, or is bullied at school. I have social anxiety and because of that I only have a few friends who also suffer from social anxiety, so we never really hang out or go anywhere. We hang out at each other's houses and play Magic or D&D, or Super Smash Bros and we're comfortable with each other, but we don't go to clubs or to parties and stuff because the anxiety is too overwhelming. And if it's the latter, and people are bullying him, then he most likely won't have any friends. And it's also entirely possible that he has high functioning autism, which means he may not enjoy being around people to begin with, so why would he make himself do something he could go without.

I don't really see the feel in this. The kid is a ******* loser who's lying to his dad simply so he'll stop being ashamed of his own son's pathetic life.
