All military members are just cringing at the uniform.

Where to even begin on these uniform corrections.
User avatar #49 to #39 - kaslin (03/14/2013) [-]
Laces not tucked in, Beret not shaved/formed, lack of name patch as well as rank, lack of unit insignia on beret, flag is on the wrong shoulder, two Airborne patches but no Airborne pin.
Thats what I can tell.

This is absolutely the worst. Do it right for god's sake. Only thing right is the us army tape. I don't care if it is cosplay do it right or not i mean damn.
#30 to #20 - spycheckingpyro (03/14/2013) [-]
i know your pain.

the flag was made in reverse
the 101st Airborne Divisional shoulder sleeve insignias are in dress colors
it appears to be First Lieutenant rank on his beret and nothing on his chest
beret is unshaped and cord hanging out
hair length too long
the guy may have taken the phrase "name tape" literally and used masking tape
collar popped and fastened
boot laces hanging out
lanyard showing
(side notes: holster unnecessarily on wrong side of hip and hangs too low and the Screaming Eagles haven't been apart of the Call of Duty franchise since CoD1)
but hey! at least his boots are bloused. kind of.

Sorry, I know lots of anime characters with a full black suit, a motorcycle helmet, and a black death scythe.

I'm serious.

#1 - argoniansrule (03/13/2013) [-]
why is the holster on the left if he's right handed?
#11 to #1 - Rascal (03/13/2013) [-]
It's a holdout sidearm, only used in dire situations. When sitting/laying on your back cross-drawing is preferable.
#14 to #1 - Rascal (03/13/2013) [-]
It doesn't make much sense for a hip holster. a shoulder holster or side holster yes, but not a leg/hip holster

Dude should have gotten a more accurate cosplay pistol, not a revolver don't get me wrong I have a Smith&Wesson model 629 (shoots 44. rem. mag I use it for hogs and deer) but something like a Beretta 92 FS would look more real (have one of those to it shoots 9mm parabellum), plus the light blue grips are kinda out there...
User avatar #8 to #4 - ninjalizards ONLINE (03/13/2013) [-]

u can tell you were trying to make yourself SOUND smart right there... call it 9mm luger next time douche
User avatar #80 to #37 - clifford (03/15/2013) [-]
Acutely 9 mm parabellum & 9 mm Luger are the same thing kiddo, here look at this link , do take the spaces out before you put it in
http:// hunting.about. com/od/ammo/f/9mm luger9mmpara.htm
#82 to #80 - biddo (03/28/2013) [-]
yessir your right but the common terminology for this round is luger my man. parabellum is rarely used and when someone uses it, it sounds like your trying to sound smart. waiting for someone to ask"whats a 9mm parabellum?" just so you can state the fact its the same thing as a 9mm luger, thus sounding like i smarty pants. like i just did....FACK!
User avatar #83 to #82 - clifford (03/28/2013) [-]
Acutely the proper term is what ever you want to call it, just let it go it's been almost 2 weeks sense the original comment was said, don't be a sore loser, but if you want to keep beating a dead horse then be my guest ;-) just no I wont be replaying with an instigator.

#63 to #33 - Rascal (03/14/2013) [-]
its the 101st airborne division. not necessarily [url deleted] shouldnt be colored on the uniform though, its supposed to be diluted
#38 to #33 - verby ONLINE (03/14/2013) [-]
airborne rangers, i think it may be specific to the 101st but ill go ahead and let you verify that
#50 to #38 - kaslin (03/14/2013) [-]
His tabs say Airborne, but not Ranger.
Rangers are 75th, not 101st.
101st are Air Assault.

#41 to #38 - pxthreezerothree (03/14/2013) [-]
It is the 101st Airborne. However, they are not a Ranger unit (though some individual soldiers maybe) but Air Assault Infantry. They specialize in exiting from helicopters through rappelling (with harness) or fast roping (no harness).
#42 to #41 - verby ONLINE (03/14/2013) [-]
Wait, that's a specialty? We learned rapelling in boot... Though we probably werent as good at it as I'm sure they are
#68 to #42 - jiltist ONLINE (03/14/2013) [-]
Rapelling in BCT is more a way of breaking soldiers of their fear of height.
#45 to #42 - pxthreezerothree (03/14/2013) [-]
Everyone learns how to rappel at BCT, but it's a whole different store to do it from an airborne helicopter. Also, the real deal is the fast roping. No harness, no special safety features, just the rope and your hands. FYI, any soldier can be selected to become Air Assault qualified.

It's a bitch tho, my Squad Leader went through it. It's all knot tying according to him.
#55 to #52 - pxthreezerothree (03/14/2013) [-]
If he was an E-4 (especially as a Corporal) I'm sure he didn't have as much fun as he thought he would.
#46 to #45 - verby ONLINE (03/14/2013) [-]
we learned how to rappel from a fake helicopter and fast rope at recruit training. I guess it would be a bit difference when its an actual helicopter
#47 to #46 - pxthreezerothree (03/14/2013) [-]
I'm guessing Marines?
#48 to #47 - verby ONLINE (03/14/2013) [-]
yes
#51 to #48 - pxthreezerothree (03/14/2013) [-]
You guys have a different doctrinal setup, your size makes it so everyone must be available to serve as a Rifleman. The Army is large enough to have specialized units without having to rely on non-infantry soldiers to serve as such. Just as a frame of reference: the Marines have 4 infantry divisions including the Reserves, the Army has 16 when ARNG is included. So there are more Army Infantry than total Marines and they don't everyone to trained that highly in Infantry techniques or for their Infantry units to cover the gambit of Infantry roles.
#53 to #51 - verby ONLINE (03/14/2013) [-]
Yeah, like the MOS im training for now has a decent possibility of being attached to based infantry and doing all the things they do
#56 to #53 - pxthreezerothree (03/14/2013) [-]
Exactly. Remember that the Marines are fundamentally a very large rapid deployment force. That includes non-combat MOSs. The majority of Army staff does not go in until combat units have secured an area for them.
#78 to #56 - verby ONLINE (03/15/2013) [-]
Well like, we set up and maintain the electronic equipment communicators use(radio towers, etc) so they need us in their pretty quick. Their are rear echelon MOSs that com e in much later, and we generally do stay towards the rear unless we're operating the equipment we work on(radio repairmen often double as radio operators).
