August 18-November 18=56 days
He claims to have ridden 17 miles everyday for a total of 1099 miles, but only rode 952 miles.

I see right through you old man...Right through you...

It's called an average... some days are more, some days less, some days none...

if you do the math, the true average is something like 12mi/day
User avatar #28 to #27 - karson (03/14/2013) [-]
he says he rides on average 17 miles per day...
#29 to #28 - twotwelve (03/14/2013) [-]
the math doesnt work out, if you divided 1099 by 56 it would be more than 17. In other words, his average was not 17 miles per day. Sly old man

it really depends on the range of daily mileage. outliers make all the difference.
User avatar #34 to #29 - ericzxvc (03/14/2013) [-]
He probably meant that his most common usage was 17 miles a day, or that his average on a normal day was 17 miles. But if he's that avid a biker then he definitely does bike marathons and the sort, so he doesn't count the huge distances he bikes when he does those marathons and therefore his average doesn't include it. The total is probably taken from a pedometer he put on the bike when he first got it.

Good stuff. I keep doing sections, really want to do the whole thing but can never find the time or somebody that will do it with me.

I'm taking a gap year after high school and going june-november, starting in Maine. I'd like to start earlier in the spring, but i'd have to take another gap year to do that. plus, i'm too excited to wait an extra year

yea but this was a 73 year old man, who in the span of about 2 months and 3 weeks rode it over 1000...
this is becoming scary

17 miles per day on a bike is really not very much. like as a fifth grader i went on a boy scout trip where we went for a 50 mile bike ride, and it was kinda long, but biking isn't hard, provided there aren't any really steep hills.

Super mosquitos really aren't that bad. They have been here in Merrillville, IN for a while now, same for Gary, IN. No more aggressive than the average mosquito except their buzzing can really **** with you, I've killed a few.
