The French may have manufactured it, but they gave it to us. It's an adopted American monument. Just because the French built it doesn't mean we can't claim it as a symbol of our freedom.

and it was intended to be given to Spain, but they didn't want to assemble it. so it gets shipped over to the U.S. and they constructed a massive foundation to support it. Immigrants coming into ellis island, NY, saw it, not as a big green lady, but as a symbol that they were "entering the land of opportunity".

tl;dr: immigrants left their country and came to the U.S. because it was the best country in the world.

America is made from other countries and foreigners in general. If you want to talk about todays American culture, don't use historical reference.

Texas was not founded by Mexicans, by the way. It was occupied by Mexicans who just considered it part of Mexico, not Texas.
