This bilboard is for the University of Engineering and Technology of Peru (UTEC) in Lima, Peru. The air there is incredibly humid, and this billboard uses that humidity to produce drinking water from thin air.
Many people in Lima have limited access to clean drinking water. IFLS

Because last I checked, we don't have a shortage of water or extreme humidity levels, and we'd rather fund more useful projects, like alternative energy and landing on Mars.

User avatar #198 to #195 - cabbagemayhem (03/07/2013) [-]
Can't tell if joking. It's not. The Earth has a limited supply of water. And again, it doesn't matter, we have plenty of water.
User avatar #208 to #198 - mcstorms (03/07/2013) [-]
what epic anon said. Using this process it becomes renewable, and only about 15% of the worlds water is drinkable.

Uhm, the posts states that there was a shortage of clean water in the area, i dont know if this is the most effective way of doing it. But if it is, then its definitly something that will spread quickly

True, but if we can found this, it might be able to help alot of people and improve life quality for alot of humans. We still help the people we ****** over during the colonial era, this might be an efficient way to do so

You're saying we shouldnt fund research about this because? No? Yeah, that does make alot of sense, people all over the world dying cause theres no clean water but something that might help them get clean water nope, because the reason no
User avatar #257 to #255 - cabbagemayhem (03/07/2013) [-]
lol ok. You didn't get any humor in my curt response, I understand. We don't need to add any funding to this because we're already in serious financial trouble and it doesn't benefit us at all. That kind of research is something that UTEC needs to do, not us. I didn't mean to call you stupid, I read that off a crackerjack box.
#258 to #257 - roarflmao ONLINE (03/07/2013) [-]
Well that the economy atm is seriously ****** up, no doubt. Im still pretty sure theres alot of US tax dollars going to charity, then again when it comes to economy its like quantum physics. Dont pretend you really understand it, nobody really does.

I hardly doubt it would cost much to fund this aswell though, research is always going to be needed and cutting spending on research in the long term is just bad in all scenarios
User avatar #259 to #258 - cabbagemayhem (03/08/2013) [-]
I'm not talking about the economy, I'm talking about government spending. It's not a mystery, we're spending more than we're making. Simple. And, this benefits us none. Why do you want to spend money frivolously?

this explains why "just a theory" is a nonsensical and non sequitor statement.

the following links are about evolution, and the evidence for it.

I have no idea what you mean by "the creation of the universe." if you're referring to the Big Bang Theory, you should know that the BBT has literally nothing to do with the creation of the universe. it's about what happened AFTER the universe was created.
User avatar #153 to #151 - idontknowwhattouse (03/07/2013) [-]
well i didnt say bbt so i didnt mean that? and obviously evolution dosent have 100% proof so its a theory

"bviously evolution dosent have 100% proof so its a theory"
evolution is both a fact and a theory. a "fact" is an observable phenomenon. evolution is the reason you have to get a different flu shot every year.
a theory is an explanation as to how a process takes place i.e. evolutionary theory explains how evolution happens

Not going to get all technical, but look at organisms. Is it a coincidence that there are millions of different types of organisms, and that each organism is "engineered" to survive perfectly in its own habitat/environment? Also, look at species. Why are there different types of fish, bears, and cats? I could go on, but in reality, anyone who still doesn't accept evolution as a fact is a complete idiot.
User avatar #245 to #207 - idontknowwhattouse (03/07/2013) [-]
