Pretty sure you're aware of this. Just linking for others' references because it's a good example of how people will act on something dressed up enough without thinking.

Like that old lady that pranked a bunch of women into signing a petition to "end women suffrage" by making it sound like women were sufferING. It was on video, only a few women actually knew suffrage means "the right to vote".

One dude where I live got over 500 signitures to ban dihydrogen monoxide. His main point was "you die if you breathe it"

Yeah, it would have been way funny if everything said 'dihydrogen monoxide', with that lone picture of a water bottle in the middle.
User avatar #53 - Awesomecarrot (03/06/2013) [-]
Damn.
Well at least it's not as bad as dihydrogen monoxide.

They literally tried that in California one time...
A dude heard there was dihydrogen monoxide in the Styrofoam cups and plates that were to be used at some event. He put a vote to ban dihydrogen monoxide in the agenda. It got showed to some higher-ups who just laughed at his ass and threw the vote out.
#45 to #13 - theflamingfire (03/06/2013) [-]
Good thing they didn't let people vote for it......

Why is everyone saying dihydrogen monoxide? You can just say hydrogen monoxide. The "di" is unnecessary.
User avatar #44 to #41 - shinobidesu (03/06/2013) [-]
false, in covalent bonds you gotta say the prefix for the first atom unless it is "mono"

water is clearly intended to kill humans. it needs to be outlawed

Two men walked into a bar. The first man ordered H2O.

The second man said, "I'll have some H2O too."

Then he died.

That's so damn confusing!

I think stupidity is the leading cause of drowning.
User avatar #28 to #23 - anikinskywalker (03/06/2013) [-]
And nothing to do with mafias and other killers who tie cinder blocks to people's ankles and throwing the cinder blocks into the water?
#32 to #28 - ravyen (03/06/2013) [-]
Well, pissing off the mafia is pretty stupid.
Ergo, stupidity causes drowning.
User avatar #72 to #32 - anikinskywalker (03/06/2013) [-]
But what if it's just for accidentally witnessing a crime? You don't have to be stupid to do something by accident.
