I think the reason the government gets away with half the things they do is because most people draw a line between citizens and government. In America, the citizens are supposed to be the government. I really do believe that we have a chance, that the US and all the other people on this planet are good people, but us sitting on our hands and not doing our jobs as citizens and remaining largely apathetic to what is actually happening is more to blame than to politicians themselves who are only doing what we let them get away with.

"DON"T STEAL"

Whatever, Ron. Say one thing, do another, right? You openly preach about fair market and free enterprise, and yet when you don't get your way, you go to the UN and beg them for help. If you don't know what I'm talking about, Ron Paul is trying to steal

LOL,

Ron paul IS the most consistant voice in washington. If all you have to bitch about is how he wants the domain name that has his name in it then WOW Ron Paul must be SQUEAKY CLEAN!
#73 to #50 - thealmanac (03/04/2013) [-]
Not to mention, if he wanted the domain name, he could have bought it. The owners of the site offered him a price, and rather than enter into a Free Market Transaction, he went to the UN and tried to steal it instead. I don't care if his age, name, birthday, and eye color are in the domain name. That domain name is THEIRS. If he wanted it, he could have taken their offer, rather than try to steal it with government power. I don't care what you think. That is ******** .
#72 to #50 - thealmanac (03/04/2013) [-]
/I never said he wasn't consistent. I'm pointing out that he is corrupt like any other politician. The irony is in the fact that this picture advocates "Don't Steal" when Ron Paul is in the process of trying to steal a domain name from innocent civilians. He advocates free and fair market, and yet when he doesn't have his way, he gets the UN involved and tries to force them to hand over their website? Get real. I voted for Ron Paul, buddy. At least I'm willing to weigh the evidence and reason with the facts. Everyone should be held accountable. Even the candidates you vote for.

What do you think about the Amazing Atheist's video where he calls him a major hypocrite?
#45 to #44 - teranin ONLINE (03/03/2013) [-]
I thought he was being kind of nitpicky, but he wasn't really wrong either. I also think that literally every politician in existence is a hypocrite, so it really doesn't matter.

would you people stop thinking that everything is a government conspiracy? And if you really didn't like the way that government is working, just elect different people. Stop complaining and actually do something about it.

taxes are only lower if you earn over 500,000 a year.
#37 to #24 - nightstar (03/03/2013) [-]
Payroll tax, SS tax, gas tax, inheritance tax, sales tax, government created inflation, state tax, automobile tax, property tax, tobacco tax, I'm sure there are more, but you get the point. Why do we have to have such a complicated tax code? Why do we have to jump through hoops to keep our money?

transaction with banks are voluntary. government taxes are not.

I agree there isn't some huge overcomplicated conspiracy, but things are headed in the wrong direction.

I think the Banks have the government beat on the whole stealing thing.
#30 to #22 - nightstar (03/03/2013) [-]
You don't have to give a bank any money. Try not paying your taxes...
#38 to #30 - itsbendingtime (03/03/2013) [-]
If you're American, your taxes go to the Federal Reserve... which isn't federal.
If you're not, chances are your government still gives a ******** of your money to banks that they borrowed from, or which needed bailing out after they gambled other peoples money.
Hell, try getting a job and telling them "I dont like banks. I want to be paid in cash please."
#43 to #38 - nightstar (03/03/2013) [-]
Do you have anything to backup the claim of my money going to the Fed?
That is something I've never heard before. I am aware the Federal Reserve is separate from the government, and I am or was sure tax money goes to the Department of the Treasury.

And you are paid in cash. You can take your paycheck to the bank that issued it and they will cash it for you.
#52 to #43 - itsbendingtime (03/03/2013) [-]
Its not as simple as your cash going straight to the Fed, but government expenditure vastly exceeds tax revenue. They have to borrow the rest of the money, and they borrow it from the Fed.
When you hear about the "debt crisis" do you ever stop and think about who the country is actually in debt to?
Sure, the US owes China a ******** of money, but most of the debt it to our own Federal Reserve. Your taxes are used to pay that debt.

It goes deeper than that though. The Federal Reserve has exclusive rights to create more money which can be put into the economy. Keep in mind most of this money is not even printed. It is numbers on a screen.
So the US Government goes to the Fed and says "OK we need to borrow money please." the Fed says doesnt say "sure, we'll get some from the vault and lend it to you." they press some buttons, and create some money out of literally nothing. They put some numbers on a screen.
By that simple act, the US Government (and by extension the entire US taxpaying population) now owes REAL money to the Fed, who did nothing more than put some numbers onto a computer.
