I hate wtfacts with all of my heart and soul.

This was an unconfirmed story, with no additional evidence ever found for it other than it's initial report. There's no ******* way that the allies would waste the slightest resource on a prank.

I cannot stand how this site spews out every story it has ever heard and calls it fact.
#54 to #53 - iwantawesomestuff (03/02/2013) [-]
Site has source info to each fact.
User avatar #55 to #54 - agitatedscientist (03/02/2013) [-]
Several of which I've proven wrong with basic math skills.

It took me three additional seconds of searching to find out that there's no historical evidence for this.

This is the last paragraph of the source that they site.
>It does seem odd that it's so hard to find accounts from Allied airmen who dropped wooden bombs, as opposed to accounts of Allied airmen who dropped wooden bombs. This, along with the wide variation in details from story to story, suggests to me that most of the wooden bombs were urban legends, rumours or just jokes. But given the evidence Courouble and his colleagues have come up with, I think wooden bombs were really dropped, sometimes, rarely. Whether reality inspired rumours or rumours inspired reality may not be possible to determine now.

... yeah I guess... but it was still funny; then again, those pilots are special types of people, they might just do this **** on their own accord - most of them are (were) army Captains and Majors...

They would not be allowed to waste military resources on stupid pranks.

During the pacific theater, there were a ton of temporary airfields set up on islands and the planes would occasionally drop packages of food and supplies to the natives. this makes no sense. at the time that Germans where building fake airfields the battle of Britain was going on. No way in hell would the English potential waits a plane to drop a wooden bomb. Also what if the bomb landed off target and the Germans never found it or if it splintered on impact. It makes no sense to potential loose a trained pilot to do this. It would also be better to fool the Germans into thinking that you thought the airfield was real so they would waste resources on it.

User avatar #32 to #23 - europeanswallow (03/02/2013) [-]
Yeah, during WWII the allies made fake planes, artillery, and even first aid tents to dupe the nazis into thinking that they were someplace they really weren't. This helped to spread the nazi forces and made it easier for the allies to take Normandy on D-Day

It's a PS3, XBOX360, and PC real time stratagy game. You control different factions of WW2 (The Japanese are a DLC, though) and your objective is to defeat your enemy using a variety of units, such as tanks, bombers, or artillery pieces. You collect resources, build buildings, and destory your enemies. It's called RUSE because you have temporary power ups to give you a advantage: Spy, Radio Silence, Fake offensive, ect.
