A lot of these seem a little too pseudo-sciencey for me...

Most of them either are pseduo-science, made up, or just straight-up wrong...
But these are from Tumblr and those ********* can barely spell so it's pretty impressive given the source!

How many things are associated with forgetting your problems besides sleep, hugging, crying, drugs, alcohol, internet, videogames... oh.

"After 34 minutes of conversation a woman already knows if there's any potential for a long term relationship with someone"

I should tone down on the masturbation jokes then...

I just eat when I get sad.. Then I have a reason to go to the gym, which distracts me.. it works

Too bad my sense of humor normally involves 9/11, the Holocaust, or anything else of that genre.

TF2 then?
User avatar #445 to #443 - satanisthesavior (02/28/2013) [-]
Eh, I didn't really care for it. I prefer campaign missions to online play, and TF2 is purely online (obviously). Plus, I don't really like how the characters are set up to each perform a certain role for a team and yet everyone just goes and does whatever they want with no teamwork whatsoever (except for medics).

Rhianna has a fish phobia, but apparently she doesn't have a Chris Brown's Fist phobia.

As much as I want to, I haven't cried in years. I feel awful, so it's probably true.

I went to so many sad threads. The pressure builds up, but nothing comes out. Last time I cried really, was when I was 6. I may have shed a few tears after that, but out of pain, not emotion.

It's alright, although I feel like crap, it doesn't mean I'm not happy.

Neither are most people I've talked to. I just tell everyone to put on a smile, and of course it won't be fake if you envision yourself happy. You're a beautiful person, remember that.

Just chill, relax, take all pressure off your mind. Don't try to hard because then you will have a full mind. You want it clear. I'd do almost anything for those I really love, which is a lot of people. And yeah, I do have a bit of experience with this. I realized you can't depend on one person with love when my dad left and my brother died.

Oh, I hope this helps, ask me more if you want. It was a bit hard to get what you were saying, but hopefully I got the gist of it.

Not a problem at all, always happy to help. And try to follow your true dreams, even if you don't make it. Because that's what makes you happy, and being happy makes the world go round.

Allow me to systematically debunk these (minus the first two, which I might be willing to believe):
1&2. Not cited, but not too unlikely.
3. Seems more like a common conscious decision than a "psychological fact". If someone has "broken your trust", you don't refuse their apology because of some ******** your subconscious pulls. You don't forgive them because you actively dislike them.
4. Seems like something out of a ****** romance movie. "The quiet artist who only needed someone to reach out to him", or "the petty criminal who only needed love". But if "psychology" claims it, then it must be true.
5. I don't know about you, but I don't forget everything when I wake up. Besides, I only CAN sleep when I'm tired enough. Anyone with an internet connection to read this post can definitely find "other distractions". I am neither eight no eighty; I can only sleep so much.
6. Literally improve your mood? As opposed to figuratively? How can someone be "figuratively" happy?

#403 to #401 - TheBarneyStinson (02/28/2013) [-]
7. The human mind spends 33% of it's time asleep. Yes, you might dream in this stage, but few people have any control over their dreams. You would literally have to spend 100% of your waking hours and then some for this to be true.
8. Which woman? Certainly it can't be ALL of them. To say that even applies to most is a stretch. I won't say it doesn't happen a lot, because frankly I don't know, but it's not an inherent trait of womanhood. And I'm equally as sure that it at least potentially can happen to men.
9. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't releasing stress hormones cause, you know, stress?
10. 90% of the world can't afford to "escape their problems". There's a significant portion of the world who needs to be consistently on the lookout for food, avoiding dangers in their area, obeying the proprietor of their illegal sweatshop, etc. If they took a break to jam out to some Soulja Boy, they're ******* dead.
11. Facial expressions mean the same thing no matter who views them. This seems like something written by a teenage girl and her "zany bff".
12. Not to brag, but I've been told I'm pretty damn funny, and I lie like a sonofabitch. As for intelligence, a lot of the smartest people I know are painfully unfunny. Then again, the rest of them are hilarious. Almost as if those two traits are naturally diverse and completely unrelated to each other.
User avatar #433 to #403 - doodogger (02/28/2013) [-]
Emotional tears actually have stress hormones in them that are released by crying.
#459 to #433 - xashun (02/28/2013) [-]
actually no- it's scientifically unknown why we shed tears when we're upset as the biological function of a tear is to clean your eye.
User avatar #470 to #459 - doodogger (02/28/2013) [-]
Yeah it's just a hypothesis, there's another one that states that crying is a release of neurotic energy, similar to a small leak valve found in breaks for cars and the such. Sorry I worded it wrong. I believe these to be true, just not proven (yet?)
User avatar #417 to #403 - appleboom (02/28/2013) [-]
For #9 it's referring to releasing them out of the body. You're thinking of the hormone gland releasing it into the body.
User avatar #421 to #417 - TheBarneyStinson (02/28/2013) [-]
Your brain releases hormones, not your tear ducts. If that's what they were going for, it's even less sensible. Besides, ACTH, an ANTI-stress hormone, is released in your brain when crying.
User avatar #423 to #421 - appleboom (02/28/2013) [-]
You're missing the point, but you're probably right.
User avatar #425 to #423 - TheBarneyStinson (02/28/2013) [-]
I think I get the point, but a lot of my problem with this post is that it's just worded terrible, and in away that doesn't make the point clear.
